Laundry Segregation and Monitoring
- Places linen and other hospital items in laundry containers for transport to the laundry area
- Sorts laundry items for infectious and non-infectious laundry
- Counts and records number of laundry items for in house or outsourced laundry.
- Separates linen or hospital items that need repair and / or special treatment and forward it to the tailor and/or Laundry staff for immediate action.
- Ensures high standards of cleanliness the Linen and Scrub suit.
Laundry Process
- Knowledgeable in proper laundry washing process: either handwash or use of washing machine
- Ensures the thorough washing, cleaning, and removal of stains of all laundry items
- Able to handle laundry items with care
- Dries or hangs laundry after laundry process
Folding andPressing
- Folds laundry upon drying
- Presses laundry if necessary or required
- Ensures that the linen and uniforms are neatly and systematically arranged and stacked.
- Receives, sorts and double checks conditions of all linen and uniforms, records all outgoing and incoming from the laundry thoroughly before storing and issuing.
- Examines laundered items to ensure cleanliness and service ability.
- Stores laundered linen and uniforms on shelves after verifying numbers and types of articles.
- Sends torn or damaged linens to the seamstress for repair.
Distribution of Linen Items
- Issues linen and uniforms, which are both to be exchanged on a clean-for-soiled basis only.
- Conducts rounds in the Hospital to check and distribute Linen
- Distributes Linen Items such as pillows and others as required by management
Others
- Repairs damaged or torn laundry items if necessary
- Assists Linen Head in checking quality and quantity of all new incoming textiles to ensure they meet the Hospital’s specifications and provide new incoming stocks with Hospital labeling.
- Assists in the inventory of linen and other Hospital’s Linen stocks
Other Pertinent Functions and Tasks:
- Participates in hospital activities and programs.
- Complies with the hospital policies and procedures. (Please refer to the Employee Handbook)
- Follows other necessary functions related to Hospital Administration as directed by the Management
- Performs other related duties and functions assigned by his/her superior
- Participates/attends BDHI activities
- High School Graduate/Vocational Course
- Willing to work on weekends or holidays
- Hospital cleaning / linen procedures experience preferred
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and standards
- Must be physically fit to perform tasks during the shift
- Must have good written and communication skills
- Knows basic tailoring works.
- Attention to details and a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness
