Job summary

Nickel Asia Corporation is seeking a Strategic Project Origination & Pipeline Development leader to shape and execute the company’s growth strategy in the Philippines. You will identify renewable energy opportunities across solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and emerging technologies, and build a diversified portfolio of projects through greenfield, brownfield, acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's project origination strategy aligned with the business growth objectives
• Identify and originate renewable energy opportunities across solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, BESS and emerging technologies.
• Build and maintain a sustainable portfolio of greenfield, brownfield, acquisition, joint venture and strategic partnership opportunities.
• Monitor market, industry, regulatory and technology developments to identify emerging opportunities.
• Recommend project prioritization and portfolio strategies to Management.
• Lead preliminary assessment of resource availability, site suitability, technology selection, and grid interconnection opportunities.
• Coordinate technical screening activities, development risks, and mitigation strategies affecting project viability.
• Ensure opportunities align with the company's technical and operational requirements
• Evaluate market demand, customer opportunities, commercial structures, and revenue potential.
• Assess project economics, pricing assumptions, cost competitiveness and investment attractiveness.
• Support the development of preliminary business cases, financial models, and investment recommendations
• Provide commercial insights to support strategic decision-making and portfolio optimization
• Assess regulatory, environmental, social, permitting, land and stakeholder considerations affecting project viability.
• Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulators, local government units, landowners, indigenous communities, developers, investors and strategic partners.
• Support negotiations involving project sites, partnerships, acquisitions and development opportunities.
• Lead Gate 0, Gate 1 and Gate 2 evaluation and approval requirements.
• Establish project screening criteria, governance process and decision frameworks.
• Recommend project advancement, deferment, restructuring, or termination based on technical, commercial and strategic assessments.
• Ensure compliance with the company's project development governance framework.
• Lead, mentor and develop the project origination team
• Foster collaboration across Business & Market intelligence, Project Readiness & Integration, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Commercial, ESG and Regulatory teams.
• Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, integrity, and excellence.
• Drive continuous improvement in project origination processes, tools and methodologies.
