Job summary

Moniepoint Inc. is seeking a Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway, in Spain to lead the technical direction and architecture of Monnify, our online payments platform connecting merchants to card networks and banks.

You will drive reliability, security and developer experience while guiding multiple engineering teams through managers. The role requires extensive leadership, deep backend expertise in high-throughput systems, and a track record in payments/fintech.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in engineering leadership.
• 5+ years hands-on Java production experience.
• At least 5 years managing managers in a scaling organisation.
• Experience in payments/fintech with understanding of payment flows and compliance.
• Deep knowledge of API-first products and developer platforms.
• Proven leadership of multiple engineering teams via managers.
• Strong backend experience in high-throughput distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the full technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for Monnify platform.
• Lead multiple engineering teams through managers, setting standards.
• Own developer experience including APIs, docs, SDKs and integration.
• Drive platform evolution toward multi-currency and international scalability.
• Ensure reliability, scalability and security in regulated environment.
• Partner with product, commercial and operations to align tech investments.
• Hire and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers.
