Job summary

INGSOL is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to design, bring up, and debug real boards from schematic to field deployment. You will work with senior hardware and firmware engineers on production hardware for industrial IoT and edge gateway applications.

The role involves schematic/PCB design, component selection with cost and industrial constraints, and hands-on debugging with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. Collaboration across teams and involvement in DFM/DFT reviews are required.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with bare-metal ARM microcontrollers (STM32 or similar Cortex-M).
  • Embedded C/C++ firmware experience at peripheral/driver level (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC).
  • Ability to read datasheets and application notes independently.

Responsibilities

  • Schematic design and PCB layout for embedded/IoT boards (power, digital, mixed-signal).
  • Component selection with cost, availability, and industrial-grade constraints (temp, EMI/EMC).
  • Prototype bring-up and debug using multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG/SWD.
  • Write and debug low-level firmware for peripheral bring-up and board validation.
  • Collaborate with firmware/software team on hardware-software integration.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) reviews, and coordinate with PCB fabrication/assembly vendors.
  • Document design files, BOMs, and test procedures.]

Job description

INGSOL Labs is hiring a Hardware Design Engineer to work on custom IoT and edge gateway hardware for industrial

applications. You'll work alongside senior hardware and firmware engineers on production hardware — not isolated

coursework — designing, bringing up, and debugging real boards from schematic to field deployment.

  1. 1. Schematic design and PCB layout for embedded/IoT boards (power, digital, mixed-signal)
  2. 2. Component selection with cost, availability, and industrial-grade (temperature, EMI/EMC) constraints
  3. 3. Prototype bring-up and debug using multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG/SWD
  4. 5. Write and debug low-level firmware for peripheral bring-up and board validation
  5. 6. Collaborate with the firmware/software team on hardware-software integration
  6. 7. Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) reviews, and coordinate with PCB fabrication/assembly vendors
  7. 8. Document design files, BOMs, and test procedures
Requirements
  1. 1. B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field (fresher to 2 years experience)
  2. 2. Working knowledge of KiCad or Altium (schematic capture and PCB layout)
  3. 3. Hands-on project experience with visible debugging effort on a bare-metal ARM microcontroller (STM32 or similar Cortex-M) — worked at the register/peripheral level, not just library-abstracted code
  4. 4. Embedded C/C++ firmware experience at the peripheral/driver level (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC)
  5. 5. Solid fundamentals in digital/analog electronics, power supply basics, and microcontroller architecture
  6. 6. Comfortable reading datasheets and application notes independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. 1. Exposure to industrial protocols: Modbus, RS-485, CAN
  2. 2. Familiarity with ARM-based SoCs/SBCs (e.g., NXP i.MX series) and/or Intel x86 embedded SoCs (N-series, Atom x7000RE)
  3. 3. Embedded Linux basics (Yocto/Buildroot, image flashing/booting, device tree)
  4. 4. Windows IoT/Embedded basics (driver installation, COM/USB debugging)
  5. 5. RTOS experience (FreeRTOS)
  6. 6. Exposure to TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking), hardware watchdog configuration, or TPM (Trusted Platform Module)
  7. 7. Understanding of EMI/EMC and certification requirements (CE, UL)
  8. 8. Genuine interest in industrial automation and manufacturing
