Job summary

Grant Thornton Ireland is seeking a GCRS Associate Director to oversee multiple client engagements, delivering high-quality financial reporting and advisory services. You will lead the preparation of complex financial statements under IFRS, FRS 102, and US GAAP, and manage project governance, budgeting, and stakeholder relationships.

You will coach senior professionals, drive growth through market opportunities, and collaborate with global teams across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent).
• 8+ years post-qualified experience in audit and/or financial reporting.
• Experience in a Top 10 firm or advisory is preferred.
• Strong IFRS and/or US GAAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple client engagements, delivering high-quality financial reporting and advisory services within agreed timelines and budgets.
• Lead and review the preparation of complex financial statements (IFRS, FRS 102, US GAAP).
• Lead project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, workflow management, and engagement administration, ensuring governance, timely delivery, quality, and commercial performance.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to finance leaders.
• Coach and develop managers and associates, set performance expectations, support succession planning, and create growth opportunities.
• Drive business growth by identifying market opportunities, building networks, originating and converting opportunities, and leading proposals and client presentations.
• Collaborate across service lines and international teams (EMEA, APAC, Americas).
• Ensure compliance with internal risk management frameworks and regulatory standards.

Job description

This is a high-profile managerial role within Grant Thornton’s Financial Accounting and Advisory Services (FAAS) team. As a GCRS Associate Director, you will work closely with Partners and senior leadership across the firm, as well as senior finance stakeholders in publicly listed companies and multinational organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple client engagements, delivering high-quality financial reporting and advisory services within agreed timelines and budgets.
• Lead and review the preparation of complex financial statements (IFRS, FRS 102, US GAAP).
• Lead project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, workflow management, and engagement administration, ensuring strong governance, timely delivery, quality, and commercial performance.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to finance leaders.
• Build team capability by coaching and developing managers, senior associates, and associates; setting clear performance expectations; supporting succession planning; and creating opportunities for technical and professional growth.
• Drive business growth by identifying market opportunities, building internal and external networks, originating and converting opportunities, and leading proposals, pitches, and client presentations
• Work collaboratively across service lines and international teams (EMEA, APAC, Americas).
• Ensure compliance with internal risk management frameworks and regulatory standards.

Skills & Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum +8 years’ post-qualified experience in audit and/ or financial reporting.
• Background in a Top 10 practice or advisory firm preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and delivering complex projects.
• Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.
• Strong project management capability with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to deliver practical solutions to clients.
