Job summary

Private Advertiser in Makati is seeking a General Ledger Controller to oversee the GL function, ensure accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting in line with accounting standards.

You will work in a hybrid setup, supervise junior staff, collaborate with auditors, and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–2 years of general ledger or financial accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and reconciliations with high accuracy.
• Strong analytical and detail-oriented problem solving.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines during close-outs.
• Experience in a service centre or multinational company is preferred.
• Strong communication and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and oversee the general ledger with accurate journal entries.
• Perform regular reconciliations of GL accounts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Review GL entries for accuracy and compliance.
• Manage chart of accounts structure and updates.
• Identify discrepancies and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Prepare reports and analyses for management.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with other finance teams and external auditors.
• Mentor junior staff as needed.

About the role
This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our financial records. As General Ledger Controller, you will oversee the general ledger function, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported in accordance with accounting standards and company policies. This role is essential to the financial health and compliance of our organization, providing the foundation upon which all financial reporting and analysis depend.

Key responsibilities

• Maintaining and overseeing the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions and journal entries
• Performing regular reconciliation of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting documentation
• Reviewing and analysing general ledger entries for accuracy, proper classification, and compliance with accounting standards
• Managing the chart of accounts structure and implementing necessary updates to align with business operations
• Identifying and resolving discrepancies and reconciling balance sheet accounts
• Ensuring timely and accurate close-out procedures at month, quarter, and year-end
• Preparing detailed reports and analysis for management review and decision-making
• Maintaining compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Supervising and mentoring junior accounting staff as required
• Collaborating with other finance departments and external auditors to support audit processes
• Implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the general ledger function

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in general ledger accounting or financial accounting roles
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards (IFRS/GAAP), and financial reporting requirements
• Proficiency with accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel at an advanced level
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounts and reconciliations with high accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines during close-out periods
• Experience in a service centre or multinational company environment is preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Knowledge of internal controls and risk management practices
