Job summary

Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation is seeking a General Accountant to join our team in Quezon City, Metro Manila on a full-time basis. This role ensures accuracy and integrity of financial records, supports robust accounting practices, and maintains regulatory compliance.

You will handle the general ledger, bank reconciliations, AP/AR processes, month-end and year-end closings, and assist in tax compliance and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in real estate, construction, or property management.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel; experience coordinating with auditors/banks/government.

Responsibilities

• Record and classify daily financial transactions in the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and AP/AR statements.
• Process vendor invoices and maintain vendor records; chase outstanding receivables.
• Assist in monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and reports.
• Support audit processes with requested financial information and documentation.

About the role

We are seeking a General Accountant to join our team in Quezon City, Metro Manila on a full-time basis. This role is pivotal to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting the organisation’s commitment to maintaining robust accounting practices and regulatory compliance. As a General Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our financial health and supporting decision-making at all levels of the organization through accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Recording, classifying and posting daily financial transactions in the general ledger
• Preparing and reconciling monthly bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable statements
• Processing accounts payable invoices and maintaining vendor records
• Processing accounts receivable transactions and following up on outstanding customer payments
• Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports
• Performing month-end and year-end closing procedures and reconciliations
• Verifying and coding expenses and ensuring proper documentation for audit purposes
• Assisting with the preparation of tax compliance documentation and filings
• Supporting the audit process by providing requested financial information and documentation
• Identifying and resolving discrepancies in financial records
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to internal financial controls and policies

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification is highly desirable
• At least 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, experience in real estate, construction and property management or venue operations
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and analyze spreadsheets
• Experience in coordinating with auditors, banks, government agencies and contractors is advantage
• Solid understanding of the accounting cycle, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Philippine financial reporting standards
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Solid knowledge of internal controls and audit requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino
• Professional integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
• Experience working with computerized accounting systems and ERP platforms is advantageous
• Knowledge of payroll accounting and tax regulations in the Philippines is preferred
