Role Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Fund Accounting Manager to provide senior-level leadership across our Private Equity fund accounting operations. In this role, you will serve as a strategic partner and operational authority for Fund Controllers, fund managers, and senior leadership — delivering institutional-grade financial reporting, deep analytical oversight, and scalable process innovation. You will own the performance and development of a growing team of fund accountants and leads, setting the standard for accuracy, efficiency, and client excellence while driving the firm's operational and technological roadmap forward.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the strategic oversight and final review of Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations across multiple fund structures simultaneously. Establish and enforce reconciliation standards for cash, positions, and Trial Balance against fund administrators, custodians, prime brokers, and bank accounts — ensuring timely break resolution and zero-defect reporting.
  • Provide senior-level review and sign-off on allocation of income, expenses, gains, and losses across partner accounts. Oversee the preparation and issuance of quarterly and annual Partner Statements, ensuring the accurate and auditable tracking of paid-in capital, unfunded commitments, clawbacks, and return of capital.
  • Lead and govern the full Private Equity fund lifecycle.
  • Direct and review month-end close workflows and lead the quarter-end and year-end financial statement process, ensuring all supporting schedules, trial balances, and workpapers are audit-ready and compliant with applicable accounting standards.
  • Serve as the firm's internal authority on fund accounting best practices — proactively evaluating existing workflows, reporting cycles, and system integrations to identify inefficiencies, manual bottlenecks, control weaknesses, and scalability risks.
  • Architect and implement scalable SOPs, automation frameworks, and streamlined reporting processes, driving measurable improvements in delivery speed, data accuracy, and operational risk reduction.
  • Own the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new accounting technologies, platforms, and workflow solutions — managing change management, team adoption, and integration quality from inception through steady-state delivery.
  • Act as a senior advisor and fractional CFO resource for clients — developing a deep understanding of their fund structures, investor bases, and strategic objectives to deliver high-value, tailored financial intelligence.
  • Drive data-driven decision-making for fund managers by delivering critical PE performance metrics including real-time IRR, TVPI, RVPI, DPI, and portfolio company valuation tracking through advanced reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Establish and enforce a robust quality control framework for all deliverables, conducting regular reviews of team outputs to maintain institutional-grade reporting standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fund accounting professionals — providing structured feedback, growth frameworks, and technical coaching to build a high-performance culture and elevate team capability.
  • Monitor team performance and operational KPIs; conduct root-cause analyses on variances and implement permanent corrective actions to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior leadership on strategic hiring decisions; own the onboarding, training, and integration of new team members to support sustainable team growth.
  • Represent the fund accounting function in client-facing discussions, audit engagements, and cross-functional initiatives with legal, compliance, and investment teams.
  • Execution, calculation, and review of capital calls, drawdowns, and distributions across multiple fund vehicles.
  • Validation and audit of complex waterfall models, distribution rules, preferred returns, carried interest calculations, and GP catch-up provisions.
  • Senior oversight of pre- and post-closing transaction support for new and follow-on portfolio investments, including purchase price allocations and fair value assessments.
Job Requirements & Credentials:
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting or fund administration, with a significant focus on Private Equity, or closed-end fund structures. Deep, hands-on expertise with capital calls, complex waterfall structures, NAV reconciliations, and LP reporting is required.
  • 4+ years of direct team management experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain a team of fund accounting professionals across multiple reporting cycles and client engagements simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of owning and executing operational transformation initiatives — including the identification of process gaps, implementation of financial technology solutions, and delivery of scalable improvements across accounting workflows.
  • Experience managing audit relationships and leading year-end financial statement processes, with demonstrated ability to prepare and review audit-ready workpapers under applicable accounting standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA designation strongly preferred; CFA or CAIA is a significant plus
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and a consistent track record of meeting strict financial reporting deadlines across multiple fund structures.
  • Strong command of PE performance metrics (IRR, TVPI, RVPI, DPI) and fund-level financial analysis; experience leveraging advanced tools and platforms to deliver real-time reporting is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the proven ability to translate complex accounting and financial concepts for a broad audience — including investors, fund managers, auditors, and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with a bias for action — proactive in dismantling legacy inefficiencies, championing modern solutions, and raising the operational bar across the team.
  • High-energy, client-service-oriented professional who thrives under pressure, manages competing priorities with ease, and sets the tone for excellence within the team
