Job summary

SGS is seeking an experienced Auditor for Food Safety in Makati. The role involves performing comprehensive audits, conducting training programs, and maintaining QHSEE compliance. Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in Food Technology or a related field, with a minimum of five years in the food industry.

Strong English communication skills and audit certification are advantageous. The position is full-time and operates from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing and completing the third‑party audit cycle and conducting specific training programs specifically for Food Safety.

Specific Responsibilities

• Conduct and complete the whole audit cycle, either as a team member or team leader, in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.
• Conduct desk study of the client’s management system.
• Prepare checklist and itinerary as a guide during audit.
• Conduct audit on site according to procedures.
• Prepare and complete audit package.
• Communicate with or attend to client inquiries related to the system standard where qualified to audit.
• Review and customize training materials, when needed, and conduct training on specific programs as determined by the Division.
• Provide coaching and performance feedback for auditors under training or supervision.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned in support of departmental goal or for personal or professional training, education or development as programmed by immediate superior.
• Complete audit reports and update client files, including kick sheet, etc.
• Operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity.

QHSEE and Environmental Compliance

• Demonstrate strong commitment to SGS QHSEE policies, procedures and work instructions by actively participating in meetings, projects and events, completing required training, intervening in unsafe situations, refusing unsafe work, and complying fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to HSEE.
• Respond appropriately and immediately to emergency situations and assist other staff members in maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies within the workplace.
• Dispose or direct disposal of waste generated as part of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with the disposal regulations and requirements, and in accordance with SGS Environmental Management System requirements.
• Report all incidents, including near misses and hazards, that may affect the achievement of QHSEE objectives in accordance with SGS Incident Reporting and Management requirements.
• Efficiently use all equipment, including safety equipment, and company owned property in the manner intended and report any damaged or lost equipment to immediate superior.
• Maintain a safe and tidy worksite according to the organization’s 5S program and guidelines.
• Maintain awareness of safety and health related hazards and environmental aspects and propose action plans to control the risks to immediate superior or QHSEE Coordinators.
• Actively participate in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management.
• Fulfill the requirements needed in the success of the QHSEE Management System.
• Recognize the potential consequences of not following the established policies, procedures, and guidelines, including not fulfilling the organization’s compliance obligations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree holder in Food Technology and Chemistry or degree (or equivalent qualification) in a food, bio‑science, or chemical engineering related discipline.
• Professional license is an advantage.
• Having attended an IRCA/JRCA Certified Lead Auditor Course is an advantage.

Experience and Technical Knowledge

• At least five (5) years full‑time work experience in food‑chain related industry, including two years of work in quality assurance or food safety functions with food manufacturing, feed & animal food processing, catering/food service, trading/retailing, transport and storage, packaging material, bio/chemicals, or equivalent.
• Excellent command of English (both written and verbal).
• Must be amenable to work in Makati Office from Monday to Friday.
• Schedule: 8am to 5pm.
