Job summary

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is seeking a Fixed Income Securities Dealer - Local Currency in Makati to contribute to the trading revenue targets through the proprietary trading of Philippine peso fixed income instruments. The role supports the bank’s duties as a Primary Dealer and Market-Maker for the Philippines and involves market analysis and strategy development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Business-related course is required.
• Certifications: Certified Treasury Professional and SEC-Certified Fixed Income Salesman are required.

Responsibilities

• Engages in proprietary trading of local currency denominated securities in primary and secondary markets to generate trading gains and meet targets.
• Develop short- to long-term trading strategies and market views on the Philippine peso fixed income market.
• Assist in inventory management, crafting market outlook, and provide market analysis and investment recommendations to fixed income sales and ALM teams.
• Support the Bank’s obligations as Primary Dealer and Market-Maker by providing timely and competitive prices across primary auctions and secondary markets.
• Ensure all transactions comply with internal rules and external regulatory requirements.

FIXED INCOME SECURITIES - LOCAL CURRENCY

This position contributes tothe attainment of the Bank’s local currency denominated securities tradingrevenue targets. Core responsibilities include the proprietary trading ofPhilippine peso fixed income instruments, helps ensure that the Bank’s obligationsas a Primary Dealer and Market-Maker for the Republic of the Philippines arefulfilled, assists in inventory management, crafting of market outlook,planning and executing strategy, and providing market analysis for fixed incomesales and other units to achieve the Department’s revenue targets.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Engages in the proprietary trading of local currency denominated securities in the primary and secondary markets with the objective of generating trading gains and achieving the Department’s financial targets;
• Short- to long-term trading strategies and market views on the Philippine peso fixed income market are developed by this position — including analysis of the Government Securities yield curve, domestic monetary policy direction, and key macroeconomic indicators — for review and approval by the Head, Fixed Income Trading – Local Currency;
• Assists in inventory management, crafting of market outlook, and providing market analysis and investment recommendations to fixed income sales, Asset and Liability Management, and other units to support client servicing and flow income generation;
• Assists in fulfilling the Bank’s obligations as a Primary Dealer and Market-Maker for the Republic of the Philippines and Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corp. Corporate Securities Market-Maker by providing timely and competitive prices across primary auction and secondary market transactions;
• Ensures that all transactions and processes are compliant with the Bank’s rules and regulations, pre-approved limits and other audit requirements including external rules and regulations (such as but not limited to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas circulars, SRC, DOF memos).
