Job summary

Fluor is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Design Engineer to support design activities during the design phase of major projects. The role requires hands-on execution of fire protection design tasks, hydraulic calculations, and preparation of drawings and specifications under senior supervision.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least five years of relevant experience, with proven project knowledge and strong HSE practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Fire Protection Design/Engineering.
• Successful completion of major projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in execution of Fire Protection Design/Engineering activities during the Design Phase.
• Conduct HSE activities under instruction of intermediate or senior HSE design personnel.
• Prepare Fire and Gas concept sketches/layout and Fire Water Demand Calculations.
• Create Fire Protection Drawings/Specifications and Passive Fire Protection Layouts.
• Develop Conceptual Fire Water Layout and Fire Zone Layouts.
• Assist in Fire water hydraulic calculations using PIPENet and other hydraulic tools.
• Perform routine HSE assignments requiring interface with other disciplines.

Job Description

Position Objectives:

Primary Job Duties/Functions are as follows:

• Assist in execution of FIRE PROTECTION DESIGN/ENGINEERING activities during Design Phase of the project
• Conduct HSE activities under instruction of intermediate or senior HSE design personnel as listed in the following bullets.
• Assists in preparation of the following deliverables:
• Fire and Gas concept sketches/layout
• Fire Water Demand Calculation
• Fire Protection Drawings/ Specifications
• Passive Fire Protection Layout
• Conceptual Fire Water Layout
• Fire Protection equipment Layout
• Deluge detailed arrangement drawings
• Line sizing for Fire Water PFD/ P&IDs
• Fire fighting specifications
• Fire Zone Layout
• Other fire fighting drawings required per project
• Assists in preparation of Fire water hydraulic calculations using PIPEnet
• Perform routine HSE assignments requiring interface with other disciplines.

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of at least 5 years of relevant experience of Fire Protection Design/Engineering
• Successful completion of major projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
• Experience in PIPENet software is required.
• Experience in using CAD tools such as AutoCad and Microstation is required.
• Experience in using 3D model viewing tools such as Smart Plant Review and Review Reality or equivalent software is required.
