Job summary

WSP in Manila is seeking an experienced Fire Safety Engineer to develop advanced CFD models for fire and smoke simulations in large-scale projects.

You will use FDS and PyroSim, perform evacuation modelling, and contribute to FEBs/FERs, with collaboration across architects and MEP teams. 3+ years in CFD fire engineering required; strong reporting and communication skills expected.

Qualifications

• Degree: Fire, Mechanical, or Civil engineering.
• 3+ years of dedicated CFD modelling experience in fire engineering.
• Proficiency with FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) and PyroSim.
• Experience with evacuation modelling (Pathfinder or buildingEXODUS).
• Strong grasp of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and combustion principles.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting.

Job description

• Develop advanced 3D CFD models to simulate fire growth and smoke movement.
• Apply simulations to complex buildings and large infrastructure (including underground stations).
• Perform ASET/RSET assessments and tenability analyses.
• Assist to optimize smoke control, exhaust, and natural ventilation designs
• Provide input into detailed CFD modelling methodology and results reports.
• Contribute to comprehensive Fire Engineering Briefs (FEB) and Reports (FER).
• Translate complex data into clear visual outputs for non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute towards the develop performance-based fire safety engineering solutions

Project & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and structural teams.
• Prepare documentation and images to aid the Project Leader to liaise with fire authorities and independent peer reviewers to secure approvals.
• Manage modelling workflows to meet strict project deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Fire, Mechanical or Civil (for discussions based upon the individuals’ qualifications and experience).

Experience, Skills and Organisational Knowledge

• 3+ years of dedicated CFD modelling experience in fire engineering.
• Primary Software: Expert in FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) and PyroSim.
• Evacuation Modelling: Experience with Pathfinder and or buildingEXODUS
• Strong grasp of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and combustion principles.
• knowledge of building codes and fire safety standards.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting.
