Job summary

WSP is seeking a professional for the role of CFD Modelling & Technical Analysis in the Philippines. The successful candidate will develop advanced 3D CFD models to simulate fire growth and assist in optimizing smoke control and ventilation designs.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Fire, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in fire engineering CFD modelling and expertise in relevant simulation software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of dedicated CFD modelling experience in fire engineering.
• Expert in FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) and PyroSim.
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and combustion principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced 3D CFD models to simulate fire growth and smoke movement.
• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and structural teams.
• Prepare documentation to secure approvals from fire authorities.

CFD Modelling & Technical Analysis

• Develop advanced 3D CFD models to simulate fire growth and smoke movement.
• Apply simulations to complex buildings and large infrastructure (including underground stations).
• Perform ASET/RSET assessments and tenability analyses.
• Assist to optimize smoke control, exhaust, and natural ventilation designs.

Engineering Design & Documentation

• Provide input into detailed CFD modelling methodology and results reports.
• Contribute to comprehensive Fire Engineering Briefs (FEB) and Reports (FER).
• Translate complex data into clear visual outputs for non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute towards developing performance-based fire safety engineering solutions.

Project & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and structural teams.
• Prepare documentation and images to aid the Project Leader to liaise with fire authorities and independent peer reviewers to secure approvals.
• Manage modelling workflows to meet strict project deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Degree: Bachelor's degree in Fire, Mechanical or Civil (for discussions based upon the individuals' qualifications and experience).

Experience, Skills and Organisational Knowledge

• 3+ years of dedicated CFD modelling experience in fire engineering.
• Primary Software: Expert in FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) and PyroSim.
• Evacuation Modelling: Experience with Pathfinder and/or BuildingEXODUS.
• Strong grasp of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and combustion principles.
• Knowledge of building codes and fire safety standards.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting.
