Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Fibre Optic Splicer or similar role.
• Proficiency in fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• Competence with OTDR devices and optical power meters.
• Understanding of fibre optic cables, specs and standards.
• Attention to detail with low signal loss.
• Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.
• Valid splicing certification or related electrical/electronic qualification.
• Physical ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Desirable: IEC 61300 experience.
• Desirable: Knowledge of network infrastructure.

About the role

Jevant Technologies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Splicer to join our Engineering team in Calabarzon. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our fibre optic network infrastructure. As a Fibre Optic Splicer, you will be responsible for joining fibre optic cables using precision splicing techniques, ensuring optimal signal transmission and minimal signal loss. This role is essential to maintaining our high standards of network performance and supporting the expanding connectivity needs of our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Performing fibre optic splicing operations using both fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques
• Preparing and cleaving fibre optic cables to precise specifications
• Operating and maintaining fibre optic splicing equipment, including fusion splicers and associated tools
• Testing and documenting splice losses using optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR) and power meters
• Installing and terminating fibre optic connectors with accuracy and attention to detail
• Following safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment
• Troubleshooting and resolving splicing defects and quality issues
• Maintaining accurate records of splicing work, including splice loss data and cable documentation
• Collaborating with installation teams and engineers to meet project deadlines and specifications
• Adhering to industry standards and best practices in fibre optic installation and maintenance

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Fibre Optic Splicer or similar role in telecommunications or electrical engineering industries
• Proficiency in fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques with demonstrated technical competency
• Competence in using fibre optic testing equipment, including OTDR devices and optical power meters
• Strong understanding of fibre optic cable types, specifications and industry standards
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work with minimal signal loss
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, installation manuals and project specifications
• Valid certification in fibre optic splicing or relevant qualifications in electrical/electronic engineering
• Physical capability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in various environmental conditions
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements
• Preferred: Experience with specific fibre optic standards such as IEC 61300 or equivalent
• Preferred: Knowledge of network infrastructure and telecommunications systems
