You will splice using fusion and mechanical methods, test splice losses with OTDR and power meters, and collaborate with installation teams to meet project deadlines. Safety and documentation are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Fibre Optic Splicer or similar role.
• Proficiency in fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• Competence with OTDR devices and optical power meters.
• Understanding of fibre optic cables, specs and standards.
• Attention to detail with low signal loss.
• Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.
• Valid splicing certification or related electrical/electronic qualification.
• Physical ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Desirable: IEC 61300 experience.
• Desirable: Knowledge of network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Perform fibre optic splicing using fusion and mechanical techniques.
• Prepare and cleave fibre optic cables to precise specs.
• Operate and maintain fusion splicers and tools.
• Test and document splice losses with OTDR and power meters.
• Install and terminate fibre optic connectors accurately.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain splice records.
• Troubleshoot splicing defects and quality issues.
• Collaborate with installation teams to meet deadlines.
