Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) seeks a Mechanical Engineer – Operation & Maintenance (Utilities) to ensure safe, reliable utility systems that support plant operations. You will lead operation, preventive maintenance, and ongoing monitoring of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, pumps, HVAC, water treatment, and related piping.

The role covers energy management, safety, compliance, reporting, and project work to expand and modernize utilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Knowledge of CMMS/SAP PM modules and MS Office applications beneficial.
  • Basic AutoCAD knowledge preferred.
  • Safety certifications such as LOTO, PTW, HAZOP desired.
  • Knowledge of ISO 50001, 9001, 14001 systems highly desirable.
  • RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of utility systems including steam, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC, water supply, and effluent/industrial water treatment.
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for utility equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and implement timely corrective actions; monitor equipment condition (vibration, thermography, oil analysis).
  • Lead energy and performance management initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain records, reports, SOPs, P&IDs and maintenance budgets; manage spare parts inventory.
  • Supervise technicians and contractor personnel; coordinate with production, EHS, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Participate in utility expansion, installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment.
  • Drive reliability improvement and continuous improvement activities.

About the Role: The Mechanical Engineer – Operation & Maintenance (Utilities) is responsible for ensuring efficient, reliable, and safe operation of utility systems supporting plant operations. The role involves operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and optimization of mechanical utility equipment such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, pumps, HVAC systems, water treatment plants, fire‑fighting systems, and associated piping networks

Key Responsibilities

Utility Operations

  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of utility systems including steam, compressed air, chilled water, cooling water, hot water, HVAC, and water supply systems.
  • Monitor utility parameters and optimize system performance.
  • Coordinate utility startup, shutdown, and changeover activities.
  • Ensure utilities meet production and process requirements.

Maintenance Management

  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of utility equipment and associated systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Monitor equipment condition through vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Minimize equipment downtime and improve system reliability.

Utility Equipment Maintenance

Responsible for operation and maintenance of:

  • Chillers and refrigeration systems
  • Cooling towers and cooling water systems
  • Air compressors and compressed air networks
  • Pumps, valves, and piping systems
  • HVAC equipment and ventilation systems
  • Water Treatment Plants (WTP)
  • Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP)
  • Sewage Treatment Plants (STP)
  • Fire hydrant and firefighting systems
  • Clean room maintenance

Energy & Performance Management

  • Monitor utility consumption and identify energy‑saving opportunities.
  • Improve equipment efficiency and utility performance.
  • Analyze utility KPIs and implement cost‑reduction initiatives.
  • Support sustainability, water conservation, and energy management programs.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, environmental norms, and safety standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections.
  • Implement Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lockout‑Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ensure safe operation of pressure vessels, boilers, and rotating equipment.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly utility performance reports.
  • Update SOPs, checklists, P&IDs, and maintenance procedures.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets.

Project & Improvement Activities

  • Participate in utility expansion and modernization projects.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new utility equipment.
  • Lead reliability improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement predictive maintenance and condition‑monitoring systems.

Team Management

  • Supervise technicians, operators, and contractor personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance and training.
  • Coordinate with production, EHS, quality, and engineering teams

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CMMS/SAP PM Modules.
