Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking a seasoned maintenance engineer to lead the upkeep of steel-melt, utility, and automation systems at our facility in the Philippines. The role requires hands-on expertise in electrical and automation hardware, TPM planning, and strong leadership to coordinate technicians and operations teams.

You will analyze breakdowns, prepare RCA reports, and drive continuous improvement through TPM, 5S, and Kaizen practices while ensuring safety compliance and budget adherence.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering required.
• Strong background in electrical & automation systems.
• Experience in TPM and maintenance planning is a plus.
• Experience with SAP maintenance module is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain SMS equipment and utility systems (compressors, boilers, cooling towers, WTP).
• Oversee maintenance of cranes and plant electrical/control systems (EOT 25MT–500MT, wall-mounted cranes).
• Prepare and execute annual preventive maintenance plans and TPM activities; perform corrective actions for electrical and control systems.
• Read and interpret E&I circuits and drawings; troubleshoot wiring, PLC logic, WinCC SCADA, and ladder diagrams.
• Work with servo motors, encoders, pressure transducers, thermocouples, PT100/RTD sensors, and other process instruments.
• Maintain CNC machines and welding machines; implement energy conservation techniques.
• Operate and maintain 33kV & 6.6kV substations, switchgear, breakers, transformers, and protective relays.
• Enforce lockout-tagout, uphold ISO/OSH standards, and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
• Maintain checklists, calibration records, MIS, and compliance documents.
• Use SAP for material requisition, purchase indents, and spare planning.
• Prepare critical spares lists, manage inventory, and pursue cost-control initiatives.
• Drive TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with technicians and operations teams; lead maintenance crews.
• Monitor energy consumption and drive efficiency improvements.
• Analyze breakdowns, prepare RCA reports, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare and monitor budgets for maintenance and operations.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Steel Melt Shop & Utility Maintenance: Maintain SMS equipment (EAF, LF, VD, VIC, FAFA, DRI, FES) and utility systems (compressors, boilers, cooling towers, WTP, NG station, chillers).
• Material Handling Equipment: Oversee maintenance of EOT cranes (25MT–500MT), wall-mounted cranes, and plant electrical/control systems.
• Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Prepare and execute annual preventive maintenance plans, TPM activities, and corrective actions for electrical and control systems.
• Control Systems & Troubleshooting: Able to read and interpret E&I circuits and drawings, troubleshoot control wiring circuits, PLC logic (Siemens S7-200/300/400/1200/1500), WinCC SCADA, and ladder diagrams.
• Instrumentation: Work with servo motors, encoders (linear, rotary, magnetic, optical), pressure transducers, temperature controllers/recorders, PT100, RTD, and other process instruments.
• CNC & Welding Equipment: Maintain CNC machines, welding machines, and implement energy conservation techniques.
• Substation Operations & Maintenance: Operate and maintain 33kV & 6.6kV substations, switchgear, VCB/ACB breakers, power transformers, BBT systems, and protective relays.
• Safety Practices: Implement lockout-tagout systems, enforce safe working practices, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, OHSAS, EMS, and industry standards.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain checklists, history cards, calibration records, DPP, MIS and statutory compliance documents.
• SAP/ERP Utilization: Use SAP Maintenance Module for material requisition, purchase indents, and spare planning.
• Inventory & Cost Control: Prepare critical spares lists, manage inventory, and implement cost control initiatives.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and suggestion implementation.
• Leadership & Communication: Coordinate with technicians and operations teams, lead maintenance crews, and ensure effective communication.
• Energy Management: Monitor and optimize energy consumption across systems.
• Root Cause Analysis: Analyze breakdowns, prepare RCA reports, and implement corrective actions.
