Job summary

MMC OUTSOURCE CORP. is seeking an Estimator to prepare accurate, timely and competitive cost estimates for construction and manufacturing projects. You will assess scope, technical requirements, costs, risks and resource needs, and work with project, commercial and operations teams.

You will review plans, perform take-offs, develop scopes of work, compare quotations, and contribute to tender reviews and project handovers, while maintaining estimating databases and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience using CostX is essential.
• Estimating experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Strong cost estimation and budgeting capability.
• Analytical and numerical proficiency.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in estimating software, cost databases, Microsoft Office, Excel and PDF editing software.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret project plans, drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors and other project resources.
• Complete accurate quantity take-offs with a clear supporting evidence trail.
• Develop detailed scopes of work and obtain, assess and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify and incorporate risks, contingencies and market conditions into estimates.
• Participate in tender reviews, bid/no-bid discussions and project handovers.
• Present and communicate estimates clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data and reporting tools.
• Support post-project reviews by comparing estimated versus actual project costs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools and templates.

About the Role

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely and competitive cost estimates by assessing project scope, technical requirements, costs, risks and resource needs. The role works closely with project, commercial and operations teams to support tendering, project planning and commercial decision-making.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant technical qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture or a related field, or equivalent relevant practical experience.
• Demonstrated experience using CostX – essential.
• Previous estimating experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Strong cost estimation and budgeting capability.
• High level of analytical and numerical competency.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in estimating software, cost databases, Microsoft Office, Excel and PDF editing software.
• Good understanding of construction methods, materials and market conditions.
• Competence in risk identification and assessment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication, negotiation, organisational and problem-solving skills.
