Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Laguna, Philippines, seeks an engineer to install, qualify, maintain and optimize laser assembly and test equipment to ensure high reliability and production readiness.

You will troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and support product development, automation projects and process improvements to enhance yield, quality, and efficiency. This role is 100% onsite in a cleanroom/office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or its equivalent; highly motivated recent graduates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Install, qualification, maintenance and optimization of laser assembly and test equipment to ensure reliability and production readiness.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve OEE.
• Support product development, equipment upgrades, automation projects and process improvements to enhance yield, quality and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain equipment documentation, preventive maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with quality, ESD, laser safety, cleanroom, and EHS standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, equipment suppliers and production personnel to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible on troubleshooting equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness

• Support product development, equipment upgrades, automation projects, and process improvements to enhance yield, quality, and manufacturing efficiency

• Develop and maintain equipment documentation, preventive maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with quality, ESD, laser safety, cleanroom, and EHS standards

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, equipment suppliers, and production personnel to resolve technical issues, provide training, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or its equivalent. A highly motivated recent college graduate is encouraged to apply.

Skills

• Equipment Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining assembly and test equipment to maximize uptime and reliability.

• Automation & Controls: Strong knowledge of motion control, robotics, machine vision, sensors, and industrial automation systems for equipment integration and optimization is a big plus.

• Process & Equipment Optimization: Ability to improve equipment performance, process capability, yield, cycle time, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through data-driven analysis

• Equipment Qualification & Validation: performing equipment installation, calibration and preventive maintenance to ensure production readiness

• Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Proficient in structured problem-solving tools such as RCA, FMEA, SPC, and DOE to identify failure mechanisms and implement sustainable corrective actions.
