## Environmental ManagerApply: Pasig City: SMEC Philippines Mandaluyong City: Full time: Posted Today: JR118601**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**· Develops and implements environmental strategies, policies, practices and action plans to ensure smooth project delivery.* Oversee daily project activities and contractor performance to ensure compliance with the project’s Environmental Monitoring and Management Plan, environmental approval conditions and agreed corrective actions.* Ensure compliance with applicable Philippine environmental laws, permits and regulatory requirements, together with relevant international lender requirements and project commitments.* Apply IFC Performance Standards and ADB Safeguard Policy Statement requirements in day-to-day site management, including identification of non-compliance, implementation of mitigation measures, contractor guidance, documentation and timely escalation.· Co-ordinates all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health and conservation in compliance with local environmental legislation.* Plan, lead and document environmental and social due diligence and compliance audits in accordance with applicable Equator Principles, lender safeguard requirements and project standards, including audits at other project sites when required.* Audit, analyse and report on environmental performance, identify trends and material risks, track corrective actions to closure and escalate overdue or significant issues.· Provide necessary professional advice for environmental impact assessments so as to reduce project environmental risks.· Promotes, raises awareness and trains staff at all levels on environmental issues. and responsibilities.· Monitor and manage Contractor’s compliance to Environment Monitoring and Management plan on project site.* Proactively identify emerging environmental risks and non-compliance, take timely action within delegated authority, escalate material concerns to project and regional leadership, seek specialist support where needed and drive effective resolution.* Lead environmental management meetings with the contractor and employer, communicate risks and non-compliance clearly, agree practical corrective actions, assign responsibilities and follow up commitments to closure.* Coordinate regularly with the Southeast Asia Environment Team to provide clear site updates, seek specialist support, share lessons learned and contribute to consistent regional environmental practices and future project assignments.**Key performance indicators**- Meeting or exceeding project KPIs- Client satisfaction with projects delivery **RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE*** Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or equivalent* At least five years of progressively responsible environmental management experience, including substantial experience leading environmental compliance on active construction sites.* Experience in construction projects, water quality monitoring for dredging, and reclamation projects.* Experience in Environmental related studies, planning, and monitoring of engineering projects.* Demonstrated technical ability.* Proven ability to work independently and prioritize own work load to meet deadlines.* Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare concise compliance reports, communicate confidently with clients and contractors, and work effectively across diverse disciplines and cultures within the Southeast Asia team.* Willing to accept an initial project-based contract and, subject to business requirements, undertake future assignments at other project sites in the Philippines or Southeast Asia.* Candidates with graphic skills such as CAD, GIS, Photoshop, will be highly regarded.* Candidates with proven project management ability will be a bonus.**Accountability - Compliance: Actively promote a culture of zero tolerance for any misconduct**Ensure:· All staff working in your area of responsibility understand the Company’s Code of Conduct andBusiness Integrity Policy and associated procedures.· Compliance risks associated with your area of responsibility are understood and managed effectively· Appropriate processes and controls are implemented within your area of responsibility for managing compliance risks effectively· Any incidents of suspected non-compliance with Company policies within your area of responsibility are reported and acted on in a timely way· Company assurance processes to review and improve effectiveness of Compliance management within your area of responsibility are supported Note: This is initially a project-based contract for the duration of the current assignment in the Philippines.
