Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Environmental Data Management Specialist to lead the delivery of complex environmental data management solutions using EQuIS and related tools. The role requires technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and trusted advisor capabilities for project teams and clients.

Responsibilities include data governance, data loading, QA/QC, and developing digital data strategies through collaboration with project managers and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related discipline.
• 3+ years of data management experience.
• 1+ years of environmental remediation field work.
• 3+ years of data management experience, preferably using Microsoft Access and/or EQuIS with knowledge of modules including Professional, EDP, SPM, Collect, and Enterprise.
• Exposure to database or programming platforms (e.g., Access, SQL Server, Oracle, Visual Studio, VBA, HTML/JSON, Java/JavaScript, Python, R).
• Understanding of digital workflows from planning to data visualization.

We are currently looking for an Environmental Data Management Specialist. As an Environmental Data Management Specialist, you will lead the delivery of complex environmental data management solutions, applying your environmental data expertise and advanced EQuIS experience. This role is expected to provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of EQuIS data management solutions and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Lead project data management activities including data governance, data tracking, data loading, quality assurance, and data delivery.
• Promote and apply data management best practices across projects and teams.
• Provide technical leadership across all phases of environmental data management using EQuIS.
• Work in a dynamic team environment with data managers, scientists, planners, engineers, and technologists.
• Develop the attributes of a strong consultant, including initiative, adaptability, collaboration, continuous learning, and client service.
• Develop and implement project plans, lead work assignments, and ensure high‑quality deliverables are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior and mid‑level environmental data management staff
• Serve as a subject matter expert for environmental data management best practices, QA/QC processes, and EQuIS administration
• Collaborate directly with project managers, technical leads, and clients to develop data management strategies and digital solutions.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Engineering, or directly related discipline.
• 3+ years of data management experience
• 1+ years of experience in environmental remediation field work
• 3+ years of data management experience, preferably using Microsoft Access, and/or EQuIS software with knowledge of EQuIS modules including Professional, EDP, SPM, Collect, and Enterprise.
• Some exposure to database or programming platforms (for example, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Visual Studio, Visual Basic for Applications, HTML, JSON, Java/JavaScript, Python, R or similar).
• Understanding of digital workflows ranging from project planning, mobile data collection, database management, data analysis, and data visualization.

Highly Qualified Applicants have

• At least 10 years of experience in environmental data management, chemistry, analytical data validation, groundwater modeling, data analysis and/or visualization.
• 5+ years of data management experience, preferably using EQuIS software with knowledge of EQuIS modules including Professional, EDP, SPM, Collect, and Enterprise.
• Experience leading environmental software implementations in consulting, industrial, or government environments.
• Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing digital workflows ranging from project planning and mobile data collection to data engineering, data warehousing, database management, analytics, and visualization.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead, data steward, or subject matter expert for environmental data management programs.
