Job summary

Jacobs in the Philippines is seeking a Piping Designer to contribute to our design teams on diverse projects. You will handle piping design tasks, work with the Piping Lead and other disciplines, and help ensure safe, efficient, and compliant plant layouts.

The role requires a solid foundation in piping engineering, familiarity with codes, and the ability to take on responsibility for deliverables, including 2D/3D models, piping layouts, isometrics, and vendor drawings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of drafting/design experience in the piping field.
• Minimum of 3 years of Smart 3D hands-on experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of AutoCAD Plant 3D hands-on experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Associate Degree in CAD Drafting or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare piping layout and 2D/3D modelling of piping system, structure, and equipment.
• Review P&IDs for conformance to piping material specifications.
• Prepare Piping Line List. Review all P&IDs for conformance to the piping material specifications.
• Reviewing and approving vendor drawings.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to less experienced designers/drafters.
• Take ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the deliverables, including calculations and construction documents.

Your impact

As a Piping Designer, you will be an integral member of the design team, counted on to perform a significant portion of Piping design for our projects. You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills as you work closely with your Piping Lead, other Piping Stress Engineers and Designers, and other disciplines.

It is expected that you have a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Piping Engineering, knowledge of multiple subject areas, experience with specific codes applicable to Piping, understand how Piping design integrates with and impacts other disciplines. You will be given as much responsibility as you are willing to take, and your opportunities for career growth will be limited only by your own motivation, capabilities, and attitude.

This position may require you to serve as a Piping Lead or Focal for small projects, or as a Sub-Lead for larger projects. Under general supervision, competently perform all conventional aspects of Piping design

• Responsible for the preparation of piping layout and 2D/3D Modelling of piping system, structure, and equipment
• Participate technical meeting and all the piping 3D model reviews
• Evaluate equipment and piping layout to optimize installation
• Prepare piping support, MTO, layout and isometrics
• Reviewing and approving vendor drawings
• Prepare Piping Line List. Review all P&IDs for conformance to the piping material specifications
• Select special piping material components not covered by piping material specifications and prepare SP Item List.

• Take responsibility for managing workload, make and keep commitments, and take full ownership of assigned work.

• Be ready to identify scope change and escalated it to your Piping Lead or Project Manager
• Recognize when help is needed, reaching out to peers and senior engineers for guidance

As an Assistant Lead Piping Engineer for an assigned project

• Assist the Piping Team Lead to develop and provide specifications and documents for piping requirements and related engineered piping and support items
• Technically evaluate piping material bidder's lists; assist inspection in evaluating manufacturing and fabrication facilities
• Fully understand all Piping scope, recognize how that scope is both generated and impacted by other disciplines, and identify scope change
• Take ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the deliverables, including calculations and all construction documents
