Our client is a Filipino-founded, early-stage AI company that builds enterprise software for large organizations. Its product is already live with major Philippine enterprises, and it has won competitive evaluations against better-funded players.
So far, sales have been led by the founder. The company has shown it can get into important rooms and win complex enterprise deals. The next step is to make that repeatable, first across the Philippines and later in Southeast Asia. This role is the first step in building that sales function.
Why this role exists
This is the company's first dedicated sales hire. The founder has opened the early doors. The company now needs someone who can create new enterprise opportunities on their own and turn them into customers. By the end of the first year, the company wants clear evidence that it can win enterprise business beyond the founder's existing network.
To set expectations: there is no SDR team booking meetings for you and no mature sales playbook. What you will have is a product that is already winning enterprise evaluations, a CEO who opens doors and sells alongside you on major accounts, and plenty of untouched market to build a pipeline that is yours.
This is an individual contributor role, not a team management role. The company wants someone who wants to hunt, sell, and help write the playbook a future sales team will use.
Scope of the role
- Pipeline. Identify target Philippine enterprise accounts, find ways into them, and prospect senior stakeholders. You will use cold outreach, calls, LinkedIn, events, referrals, and partners.
- Stakeholders. Build relationships with senior leaders across operations, customer experience, technology, and business leadership.
- Founder introductions. Turn introductions from the founder, investors, and partners into structured sales processes. You own the account and the process. The CEO co-sells on major deals and senior executive conversations.
- Discovery and demos. Lead discovery, and over time lead product demos. Understand each customer's business problem and shape use cases around it.
- Deal ownership. Manage multi-month sales cycles with committees, technical evaluations, and procurement. Coordinate pilots and proofs of concept with the product and engineering teams. Own proposals, commercial discussions, and next steps.
- Discipline. Keep account plans, pipeline visibility, and forecasting in order.
- Growth. Close new customers, then find and drive expansion within those accounts.
What success looks like
- First few months: Learn the product and existing customers, take over active opportunities, and build a focused list of target accounts.
- As you ramp: Build a steady pipeline of genuinely qualified enterprise opportunities, and move existing deals toward pilots, proposals, and decisions.
- By the end of year one: Run most enterprise deals independently, knowing when to bring in the CEO, product, or engineering. Show that the company can create and win enterprise business beyond the founder's network.
What they are looking for
- Around 4-7 years of professional experience, including real experience carrying your own sales target. A strong track record gained earlier, or through an unconventional path, is also welcome.
- Experience selling software, SaaS, technology, or another complex solution to enterprise customers.
- Proof that you personally created enterprise pipeline, rather than relying mainly on inbound leads or meetings booked by SDRs.
- Experience with multi-month sales cycles involving several stakeholders.
- The persistence to keep complicated deals alive and moving.
- Confidence speaking with senior executives.
- Commercial curiosity: you understand the customer's business problem rather than just presenting product features.
- High agency: when you know no one inside an account, your instinct is to find a way in.
- The ability to work well without a large sales-support team.
AI experience is helpful but not required. The company cares more about whether you can hunt, learn fast, and sell complex solutions.
Backgrounds that fit well
- Enterprise SaaS or software
- Cloud, cybersecurity, or IT solutions
- Contact center, CPaaS, or communications technology
- Fintech or other B2B technology
- Enterprise telco solutions
- BPO or technology-enabled services
- Any complex product where getting into the account and navigating the organization matters as much as the demo
Experience selling into Philippine banks, insurers, conglomerates, automotive groups, healthcare companies, telcos, or other large enterprises is especially valuable. Your title may look different from the above, as long as you can show you have personally opened enterprise doors and turned those relationships into revenue.
This role may not be for you if
- You prefer to work mainly from inbound leads.
- Your previous company gave you most of your meetings through SDRs or marketing.
- You want to manage a sales team rather than prospect and close yourself.
- You need a mature playbook, a large presales team, or a well-known brand to be effective.
- You are uncomfortable building relationships from scratch, or following a deal for months before it closes.
