Job summary

Nexperia is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support semiconductor assembly operations focused on Die Attach/Clip Attach equipment. You will lead reliability improvements, implement maintenance strategies, and drive NPIs, tech transfers, and equipment upgrades while collaborating with manufacturing, process engineering, quality, and NPI teams.

The role requires a Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics background with 4+ years in equipment engineering and hands-on experience with Die Attach

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics or related field.
  • 4+ years of equipment engineering experience in semiconductor assembly.
  • Experience with Die Attach/Clip Attach equipment; exposure to Solder Dispense, Solder Print, Reflow is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of qualification, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and reliability improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with suppliers and platforms for Die Attach/Clip Attach equipment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and statistical tools (SAS JMP, Minitab).
  • Knowledge of OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and equipment performance monitoring.
  • Understanding of PLCs, automation systems, vision systems, and machine control architecture.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement equipment improvement initiatives for reliability, uptime, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
  • Qualify, install, commission, and release new equipment platforms and automation solutions.
  • Lead equipment capability studies and analyze data to identify improvements.
  • Drive OEE improvements through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and lead root cause analysis.
  • Prioritize and execute equipment projects based on manufacturing and quality needs.
  • Develop and maintain equipment documentation and spare parts plans.
  • Support NPI activities, customer qualifications, and technology transfer.
  • Manage equipment upgrades, refurbishments, and automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on qualifications and maintenance strategies.
  • Prepare technical reports and required documentation for customers and audits.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to achieve goals.

About the Role

The Equipment Engineer supports manufacturing operations through the development, optimization, qualification, and maintenance of Die Attach/Clip Attach (DACA) equipment. This role is responsible for improving equipment reliability, availability, and performance while supporting new equipment introductions, capacity expansion, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement projects to meet quality, productivity, and cost objectives.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and implement equipment improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, uptime, productivity, and cost effectiveness for Die Attach/Clip Attach processes.
  • Qualify, install, commission, and release new equipment platforms, automation solutions, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Lead equipment capability studies and performance evaluations; analyze equipment data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive OEE improvements through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies.
  • Troubleshoot equipment-related issues and lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Prioritize and execute equipment improvement projects based on manufacturing, quality, and business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain equipment documentation including maintenance procedures, spare parts plans, troubleshooting guides, and technical standards.
  • Support NPI activities, customer product qualifications, sample builds, and technology transfer projects.
  • Manage equipment upgrades, refurbishments, modifications, and automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on equipment qualifications, technical issues, preventive maintenance strategies, and performance improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports, equipment evaluations, project summaries, and customer-required technical documentation.
  • Support internal, customer, and certification audits as needed.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, Facilities, NPI, and R&D teams to achieve operational and project goals.
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Equipment Engineering within semiconductor assembly manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting Die Attach/Clip Attach equipment; exposure to Solder Dispense, Solder Print, and Reflow equipment is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment qualification, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and reliability improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Die Attach and Clip Attach equipment suppliers and platforms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and statistical tools such as SAS JMP and Minitab.
  • Knowledge of OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and equipment performance monitoring systems.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs, automation systems, vision systems, and machine control architecture is an advantage.
  • Understanding of project management principles and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication, technical documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.
