Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience as marine electrician, ideally on tugs or similar craft

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on AC/DC systems, generators, main engines, motors, and switchboards
• Diagnose and fix faults in navigation, radio/communication equipment, alarms, fire detection systems, and lighting
• Support towing operations: maintain electrical systems for winches, towing pins, and deck machinery
• Ensure safety compliance with SOLAS and flag state regulations; perform tests to prevent hazards
• Service and test onboard batteries, including emergency lighting and communication batteries
• Keep logs of maintenance, repair, and inventory; conduct risk assessments for electrical tasks
• Work in confined spaces within engine rooms or under decks

• Maintenance and Repair: Performing routine inspections and maintenance on AC/DC systems, generators, main engines, motors, and switchboards.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and fixing faults in navigation systems, radio and communication equipment, alarms, fire detection systems, and lighting.
• Towing and Deck Support: Maintaining electrical systems specific to towing, such as winches, towing pins, and deck machinery.
• Safety Compliance: Ensuring all electrical equipment adheres to maritime safety regulations, including SOLAS and flag state regulations, and performing tests to prevent hazards.
• Battery Maintenance: Servicing and testing all onboard batteries, including emergency lighting and communication batteries.
• Documentation: Keeping accurate logs of maintenance, repair, and inventory, and conducting risk assessments for electrical tasks.
• Confined Space Work: Working in restricted, hot, or noisy spaces within the engine room or under the deck.

Key Requirements and Qualifications
