Job summary

Pacificrose Shipping Services Inc. seeks a hands-on Maintenance helper to support mechanical and electrical systems on vessels.

You will assist with routine maintenance, diagnosing faults, and ensuring reliable engine and auxiliary equipment performance, reporting major issues as needed. You will also help manage spare parts and tools, keep maintenance records, and contribute to towing operations by coordinating with the bridge team to ensure power and propulsion readiness.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine maintenance of engines, generators, pumps and auxiliary machinery.
• Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools and supplies; report shortages.
• Help keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Assist in preparing reports on engine performance, fuel consumption, and incidents.
• Support towing operations by ensuring propulsion and power systems are operational and coordinate with the bridge team.

Job description

Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance:

1. Routine Maintenance:

   • Assist in conducting regular maintenance on all mechanical and electrical systems, including engines, generators, pumps, and auxiliary machinery.

   • Follow preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the reliability of all equipment.

2. Repairs:

   • Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.

   • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks independently and report major issues to the Chief Engineer.

Inventory and Documentation:

1. Inventory Management:

   • Assist in maintaining an inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies.

   • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the Chief Engineer.

2. Documentation:

   • Help keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

   • Assist in preparing reports on engine performance, fuel consumption, and any incidents.

Operational Support:

1. Assisting with Towing Operations:

   • Ensure the propulsion and power systems are fully operational during towing and assist operations.

   • Coordinate with the bridge team to provide the necessary power and maneuverability.
