Job summary

SMEC (an SJ Group company) in Metro Manila seeks a seasoned Electrical Engineer to lead electrical inspection and commissioning on hydropower and large infrastructure projects. The role requires a PE/REE license, 8+ years of relevant experience, and hands-on site supervision of MV/LV systems.

You will coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and commissioning teams, ensuring compliance with drawings, standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Licensure as Professional Electrical Engineer or Registered Electrical Engineer.
• Extensive training in electrical safety, testing, commissioning, and safety standards.
• Experience with hydropower, pumped storage, or large infrastructure projects.
• Experience inspecting electrical systems, supervising site work, and ensuring QA/QC compliance.
• Familiar with MV/LV installations, switchgear, transformers, and auxiliary equipment.
• Experience with owner’s engineer or supervision consultant assignments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspection of electrical auxiliary systems installation works.
• Verify compliance with drawings, specs, standards, and contract requirements.
• Inspect transformers, switchgear, batteries, UPS, cable trays, lighting, grounding, and related equipment.
• Witness testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Monitor contractor QA/QC, ITPs, and approved work methods.
• Identify non-conforming work, defects, and installation deficiencies.
• Participate in safety inspections and ensure electrical safety measures (LOTO).
• Maintain inspection records, testing reports and site documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, commissioning engineers, and teams.
• Assist in system acceptance, handover, and punch-list closure.
• Support troubleshooting and timely resolution of technical issues.
