Job summary

Children's Cancer Foundation is seeking a dedicated educator to create a nurturing and medically aware learning environment for students across primary and secondary levels. You will differentiate instruction for diverse needs, collaborate with families and healthcare professionals, and support learning continuity across hospital, home-based, online, and classroom settings.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Education or Special Education.
• Formal training in Special Education (NIE PGDE) preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant syllabuses; ability to teach another language if required.
• First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• 3–5 years’ experience with children/youths with special needs or medical conditions.
• Experience developing and implementing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs).
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, inclusive education and trauma-informed practice.
• Ability to adapt teaching for diverse learning, developmental, emotional and medical needs.
• Strong communication with families and professionals; comfortable with online and classroom teaching.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons aligned with the MOE curriculum and adapted to students' individual learning needs, medical needs and energy levels.
• Develop and implement Individualised Education Plans in collaboration with families, caseworkers, therapists, healthcare professionals and community partners.
• Design flexible curriculum materials, learning resources and activities for students with diverse learning profiles, including cognitive disabilities and other developmental or medical needs.
• Support continuity of learning across hospital, home-based, online and classroom settings.
• Monitor, assess and document student progress, adjusting teaching plans in response to learning, developmental and well-being needs.
• Plan life skills, enrichment and values-based activities that foster confidence, gratitude, social development and community connection.
• Support students' daily routines, transitions and overall wellbeing with sensitivity to their physical, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, hygienic and infection-conscious learning environment.
• Supervise students during non-instructional times and facilitate positive peer interactions.
• Work closely with parents, caregivers, healthcare professionals, caseworkers, therapists, schools and community partners to support holistic student development.

About the role

You will create a structured, nurturing and medically responsive learning environment for students across primary and secondary levels. Working with small groups, you will adapt teaching to each student's learning needs, health condition, energy level and emotional readiness, while supporting their academic progress, personal growth and overall wellbeing.

About you

• A degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field

• Formal training in Special Education, such as NIE PGDE Special Education, is preferred

• Current knowledge of relevant subject syllabuses; ability to teach another Language is required only for language-specific teaching positions

• First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification

• 3 to 5 years relevant experience working with children or youths with special needs, medical conditions, or additional learning needs

• Experience developing and implementing Individualised Education Plans is an advantage

• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, inclusive education and trauma-informed practice

• Ability to adapt teaching for diverse learning, developmental, emotional and medical needs

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage students, families and professionals sensitively and effectively

• Comfortable with both online and classroom teaching
