Duty Engineer: Energy & Facilities Lead

Job summary

Makati Shangri-La, Manila is seeking a Duty Engineer to maintain and operate hotel equipment in line with Shangri-La standards. You will drive energy management, supervise a team of technicians, and ensure safe OH&S practices across the department.

The role requires at least 5 years in the field, a Technical College certificate in mechanics or electricity, and strong communication, problem solving, and leadership abilities. Fluency in English (and local language) is expected.

Qualifications

• Has at least 5 years experience in the same field.
• Has certificate from Technical College in Mechanics or Electricity or equivalent.
• Demonstrates awareness of OH&S policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines. In addition, first aid and fire and emergency procedures.
• Demonstrates high quality work, has good communication & problem solving skills, organizational and training abilities
• Highly motivated, goal-oriented and has the aptitude to learn
• Leads by example
• Communicates and writes with fluency in English (and local language)

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the Hotel equipment and areas are maintained and operated in accordance with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts standard
• Check daily utilities readings and make sure operation is most efficient.
• Ensure all engineering employees follow the Engineering Standards and Procedures as issued from time to time.
• Conduct shift briefings to ensure hotel activities and operational requirements are known.
• Manage the technician to maintain all machinery equipment and record work process for the property.
• Responsible for the proper organization and functioning of the energy management function of the Engineering Department.
• Demonstrate awareness of OH&S policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines and ensure direct reports do the same.
• Analyse and monitor energy costs and expenditures for the department.
• Ensure that personal grooming and hygiene standards are being observed doing spot checks in the morning.
• Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the management from time to time.
