JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a DRGV Specialist who will review inpatient medical records and validate DRG (Diagnosis-Related Groups) assignments. The role requires strong knowledge of inpatient coding standards, clinical documentation, and compliant coding practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records for DRG validation
• Provide detailed rationale and supporting evidence for findings and recommendations
• Utilize recognized references such as ICD-10 Official Guidelines, AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, AHIMA Practice Briefs, and AHA Coding Clinics
• Apply knowledge of coding and auditing standards to ensure accurate and compliant DRG assignments
• Experience with 3M Coding, Optum, CAC, abstracting software, or Meditech is an advantage

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 2 years and 6 months of DRGV/IP Auditor experience, OR 3–5 years of inpatient coding experience
• College graduate of any medical-allied course
• Must have an active CIC or CCS certification
• CPC holders must have at least 2 years of DRG experience
• If certification expires within the next 6 months, the candidate will shoulder the certification renewal
• Strong knowledge of inpatient coding, DRG validation, and medical record review
