About the role
Join an engineering and architectural design team as a CAD Design Specialist, translating complex concepts into accurate 2D plans and 3D systems. You will contribute to the development of detailed technical drawings and digital models while ensuring designs align with applicable construction standards, zoning requirements, and engineering specifications.
Key responsibilities
- Create, modify, and maintain accurate 2D and 3D drawings and models using industry-standard software.
- Translate 2D plans into 3D systems and convert 3D concepts into clear, detailed technical documentation.
- Apply layers, blocks, viewports, scale settings, external references, dimensioning, line weights, and plotting standards.
- Interpret engineering and architectural concepts and incorporate them into precise design outputs.
- Apply ANSI and ISO standards, including first-angle and third-angle projection methods.
- Use GD&T, limits and fits, welding symbols, and surface roughness symbols accurately in technical drawings.
- Review drawings for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Consider local construction standards, zoning laws, and engineering specifications when preparing design documentation.
What we're looking for
- Fluency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, Civil 3D, or MicroStation.
- Strong knowledge of drafting and modelling workflows, including drawing setup, annotation, dimensioning, and plotting.
- Understanding of ANSI, ISO, first-angle and third-angle projection methods, GD&T, limits and fits, and welding and surface roughness symbols.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering or architectural concepts and produce accurate technical drawings.
- Familiarity with local construction standards, zoning laws, and engineering specifications.
- Strong attention to detail, technical reasoning, and document accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders.
