About the role

We’re looking for a MarCom Director to run marketing and communications day to day: an opinionated operator who can turn strategy into a running machine, get the best work out of top‑shelf vendors, and drive creative output to the highest standard. The right candidate will take a general direction and make it real across every audience and channel without constant oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Run the operating rhythm by owning the systems that route tasks, owners, stakeholders, statuses, and deadlines across web, social, media, business development, events, and internal communications.
  • Orchestrate agencies and vendors by bringing multiple PR agencies, creative, web, social, and specialist contractors together as one coordinated team, running kickoffs, syncs, and enabling partners to deliver their best work.
  • Own our biggest moments end to end by driving major announcements such as transactions, partnerships, funding, and program milestones, and coordinating global timing from the start.
  • Conceive and execute events that punch above our weight, including company events, symposiums, convenings, and conference activations that make CI feel bigger than its stage.
  • Hold the creative bar by reviewing and elevating copy, visuals, and campaign work to a standard that ships with minimal rework.
  • Translate the story across every touchpoint, taking our core narrative and making it land across web, social, media, events, and partner-facing surfaces.
  • Own asset readiness by treating deliverables with their own deadlines and ensuring they are reviewed and approved before go time.
  • Sustain an always‑on presence by keeping social channels, website, and content streams engaged between the big moments so the audience never drifts.
Qualifications
  • Director‑level experience running marketing and/or communications, with a track record of owning end‑to‑end execution.
  • Experience in sophisticated corporate marketing at a top‑tier company and in deep‑tech or frontier‑science industry, with fluency in high‑end marketing and hard science.
  • Passion for brand building and a record of developing and activating at least one strong brand program.
  • A history of conceiving and executing high‑caliber events and experiential activations that exceed the company’s size.
  • Proven ability to manage top‑shelf creative, PR, and specialist agencies to deliver world‑class output under pressure.
  • Strong creative judgment for briefing, directing, and evaluating creative work while balancing stakeholder preferences.
  • A portfolio of work that is visibly above category norm.
  • Comfort operating alongside frontier‑AI and biopharma partners and national press.
About you
  • Opinionated, not just organized – you have views, voice them upward, and bring things to fruition.
  • A self‑sufficient creative force – you raise the bar without needing oversight.
  • An event‑producer at heart – you instinctively know how to fill a room, make it unforgettable, and elevate CI’s presence.
  • Comfortable at altitude – you thrive in a serious league without strain.
  • An operator at the core – you enjoy building systems, rhythms, and coordination, energized by keeping many fast‑moving parts in sync.
