Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a reliable full-time Bookkeeper or Accounting Assistant to maintain accurate financial records. You will record transactions, manage ledgers, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly financial statements.

The role also involves preparing check vouchers, supporting documents, assisting with purchasing, and handling general administrative tasks as needed. You should have a degree in accounting and proficiency in common accounting software and Excel.

Qualifications

• Record all company transactions accurately and promptly in the accounting system.
• Prepare and post journal entries for sales, purchases, collections, payments, expenses, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other transactions.
• Set up and verify opening balances; maintain the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank accounts, cash balances, supplier accounts, customer accounts, and other balance-sheet accounts.
• Prepare monthly closing procedures and trial balances; generate monthly financial statements.
• Assist with purchasing and perform general administrative work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Record all company transactions accurately and promptly in the accounting system.
• Prepare and post journal entries for sales, purchases, collections, payments, expenses, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other transactions.
• Set up, verify, and maintain accurate beginning or opening balances.
• Maintain the general ledger, cash receipts journal, cash disbursement journal, and related accounting records.
• Maintain accounts receivable and accounts payable records.
• Reconcile bank accounts, cash balances, supplier accounts, customer accounts, and other balance-sheet accounts.
• Check that entries are properly classified, approved, and supported by complete source documents.
• Investigate and report discrepancies or missing documents.
• Complete monthly closing procedures and prepare necessary adjusting entries.
• Prepare monthly trial balances and supporting schedules.
