Job summary

WeConnect Technology Philippines is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to lead telecom site design efforts, including towers, foundations, shelters, and related civil works. You will manage design schedules, review subcontractor outputs, and ensure compliance with local standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in telecom civil/structural design, proficiency in AutoCAD and structure software, and strong communication and coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Must have a Civil/Structural engineering degree or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of telecom civil/structural design experience.
• Familiarity with site design processes, codes, load calculations, foundation design and permitting in the Philippines.

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage the overall civil and structural design work for telecom sites, including towers, foundations, shelters/cabinets, power-related civil works, and associated facilities.

2. Develop and control the design schedule, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of all design outputs.

3. Organize site surveys, feasibility assessments, design development, structural calculations, drawings, design reports, and design change management.

4. Review and approve subcontractor design deliverables, including survey reports, structural calculation reports, civil/structural drawings, material take-off, and design BOQ.

5. Assess constructability, structural safety, permitting, cost, and implementation risks for new sites, tower conversion, tower reinforcement, cabinet foundations, and other civil works.

6. Coordinate with SAQ, RF, transmission, power, procurement, construction, and customer teams to close TSSR, DDD, and design approval requirements.

7. Support tendering, BOQ breakdown, cost estimation, and design optimization to improve cost efficiency while meeting technical and quality requirements.

8. Establish and continuously improve design standards, typical drawings, checklists, and lessons-learned databases to improve design efficiency and first-pass approval rates.

9. Provide technical support during construction, quality inspection, acceptance, and design changes; resolve site issues related to foundations, towers, structural works, and auxiliary civil works.

Qualifications

1. Filipino national, preferably based locally and willing to travel across project areas as required.

2. Bachelor’s degree or above in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.

3. At least 5 years of experience in telecom civil/structural design, preferably covering tower structures, foundations, cabinet platforms, shelters, and related civil works.

4. Familiar with telecom site design processes, structural design codes, load calculations, foundation design, drawing review, and permitting requirements in the Philippines.

5. Proficient in AutoCAD, structural analysis/design software, and Microsoft Office applications.

6. Strong ability to review drawings, structural calculations, design BOQs, and subcontractor deliverables.

7. Experience in Globe Telecom projects is preferred. Familiarity with Globe SAQ, site design approval, construction, acceptance, and subcontractor management processes is an advantage.

8. Familiarity with local Philippine engineering consultants, civil/structural subcontractors, government permitting processes, and relevant building, safety, and environmental regulations is preferred.

9. Strong communication, coordination, risk management, and problem-solving skills; able to work effectively with customers, landlords, subcontractors, government agencies, and internal teams.

10. Proficient in English; ability to communicate in Filipino/local languages is an advantage.
