Job summary

Assystem GmbH is seeking a Design Lead (Primary) to spearhead engineering activities for substation projects. The role involves preparing, reviewing, and executing primary designs, and coordinating BIM 3D modelling and GIS layout efforts with draftsmen.

The ideal candidate will review 2D/3D drawings, collaborate with site execution and cluster teams, and ensure specifications compliance across civil, structural, MEP, and instrumentation disciplines.

Qualifications

• As a Design Lead (Primary), capable of preparing, reviewing & executing Primary Engineering Activities for Substation Projects.
• Good knowledge in Layout Engineering for Substations and BIM modeling.
• Provide inputs to draftsman for drawings and GIS layout design.

Responsibilities

• Timely review of drawings by the draftsman.
• Interact with Site Execution & Cluster teams for design clarification.
• Coordinate with Civil, Structural, MEP & Instrumentation for concurrence in design specs.
• Ensure compliance to specification requirements.
• Review 2D & 3D drawings and documentation for Quality systems.
• Review vendor offers and documents.
• Pre-Tender engineering including BOM estimation and offers reviews.
• Prepare design calculations for substation equipment (busbar, UPS, DG, LT transformer, earthing) and related checks (short-circuit, sag tension).
• Review BOM vs tender quantities.

Job description

Objective / Purpose

As a Design Lead (Primary), the person shall be capable of preparing, reviewing & executing Primary Engineering Activities for Substation Projects as per the direction of Design Lead (Primary). He must have good knowledge in Layout Engineering in Substation Projects. He shall facilitate the modellers in development of BIM 3D Model for Substations. As a Design Engineer (Primary), the person shall be required to design the GIS layout of the substation and provide inputs to the draftsman for development of drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Timely review of the drawings developed by the draftsman
• Interact with Site Execution & Cluster teams for clarification w.r.t. the design of equipment
• Coordinate with inter-disciplinary areas, inter-departmental checks (Civil & Structural,MEP & Instrumentation) for obtaining concurrence in design specifications
• Ensure compliance to specification requirements
• Review of drawings (2D & 3D) and Documentation conforming to Quality systems
• Review of Vendor Offers and Documents
• Pre-Tender Engineering including estimation of BOM (Bill of Materials) and OfferReviews
• Prepare design calculations of all Substation equipment (sizing calculations of Busbar, UPS, DG, LT Transformer, Earthing Conductor) &other calculations (viz. Short circuitforce, Sag tension etc.)
• Reviewing of Bill of Material and comparing with the Tender Quantity
