We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in database administration, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for maintaining high system performance and reliability.

I. JOB SUMMARY

The Database Administrator I exists to support the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of database platforms within the Cloud and Data Center service line. The role provides technical database administration support, assists in maintaining database availability, accuracy, confidentiality, and performance, and contributes to the implementation of team objectives and operational improvements while working within established procedures and guidance from senior team members.

II. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare, maintain, analyse, and safeguard database-related records, reports, systems information, and operational data used by management and support teams for decision-making.
• Ensure a high degree of accuracy and soundness in database administration activities, recognizing that errors may affect department operations, service reliability, or business continuity.
• Support database operations by monitoring system health, assisting in performance checks, troubleshooting standard issues, and escalating complex concerns to higher-level administrators when required.
• Participate in the implementation of team objectives, programs, and operational initiatives by providing inputs, supporting rollout activities, and helping assess operational impact within the database administration scope.
• Maintain, protect, and properly use assigned company assets, tools, systems, and database environments in accordance with established controls and procedures.
• Handle confidential database-related information responsibly, ensuring that access, usage, preparation, and safekeeping of data and documents follow security and confidentiality requirements.
• Coordinate with other IT teams, departments, and support groups to provide or obtain information needed for incident resolution, service requests, change activities, and operational support.
• Contribute to the reliability and continuity of database services by documenting activities, following standard operating procedures, and supporting continuous improvement of database administration practices.

III. JOB SPECIFICATION

• Requires technical or professional know-how acquired through a four-year college education and over one to two years of experience and training in database administration or a related IT infrastructure specialization.
• Requires minimal managerial complexity, with no formal administrative supervision, but may involve coordination, functional guidance, and control within assigned database support activities.
• Requires regular contact with other departments and sections to give and obtain information, applying tact and professionalism to avoid friction and support effective collaboration.
• Requires the ability to address variable problems that are somewhat varied and readily identifiable, using practical know-how, past experience, analysis, and established guidelines to recommend appropriate solutions.
• Requires the ability to work under variable pressure, including recurring workload peaks, deadlines, service requests, incident response needs, and operational reporting requirements.
• Requires some physical exertion associated with IT operations work, such as occasional movement within work areas or handling of light equipment, while generally operating within a regular schedule with possible shift changes.
