Job summary

GECO Philippines, part of the GECO Asia Group, is seeking a Database Administrator (SQL) to support daily operations and ensure performance, security, and reliability of enterprise databases.

Hybrid setup (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) with cross-functional IT teams; you will monitor health, assist in troubleshooting, perform maintenance, and contribute to service reliability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience in database administration or related IT infrastructure.
• Foundational knowledge of database operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance checks.
• Familiarity with database security, data integrity, access controls, and documentation.

We're Hiring: Database Administrator (SQL)

We are looking for a detail-oriented and service-driven Database Administrator to join our Tech Services - Cloud and Data Center team. The successful candidate will support daily database operations, monitor database performance and availability, assist in troubleshooting technical issues, and help maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of enterprise database environments.

This role is ideal for an IT professional with foundational database administration experience who is eager to develop technical expertise while working with experienced database administrators and cross-functional IT teams.

Deployment Setup

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor database health, availability, and performance to help ensure reliable daily operations.
• Assist in database troubleshooting, performance checks, and the resolution of standard technical issues.
• Support database maintenance activities and elevate complex incidents to senior administrators when necessary.
• Maintain accurate database records, operational reports, system documentation, and related technical information.
• Help safeguard database systems and confidential information by following established security policies, access controls, and operational procedures.
• Coordinate with internal IT teams and other support groups to resolve incidents, fulfill service requests, and support change activities.
• Follow standard operating procedures and contribute to database service reliability, business continuity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the implementation of team objectives, operational projects, and database-related process improvements.
• Ensure the proper use and maintenance of assigned company tools, systems, and IT assets.

Technical Competencies

• Exposure to enterprise database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database backup and recovery, routine maintenance, and performance monitoring.
• Basic understanding of IT service management, incident management, and change management processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• With strong hand on experience in database administration or a related IT infrastructure role.
• Foundational knowledge of database operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance checks.
• Familiarity with database security, data integrity, access controls, and operational documentation.
