Job summary

Rising Tide Digital, Inc. in Makati City is hiring a Database Administrator to maintain and support its databases, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data retrievability in emergencies.

You will work in a dynamic environment with ITSM change control, focus on performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery, with on-site work in Makati.

The ideal candidate holds a IT-related degree and 3–5 years of experience, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in Database Administration.
• Knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience in SQL, database monitoring, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of database security, troubleshooting, and user access management.
• Familiarity with cloud databases and disaster recovery is an advantage.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• Candidate must be willing to work onsite at Makaty City, and can start asap or after 2 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and administer databases.
• Manage SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other enterprise databases.
• Develop advanced SQL queries, procedures, functions, views, and optimization.
• Tune performance with indexing and execution plans.
• Back up, restore, and implement disaster recovery procedures.
• Ensure high availability via replication, clustering, and HA technologies.
• Manage database security, user access, roles, and encryption.
• Troubleshoot database errors and performance issues.
• Monitor database health, capacity, and resource usage.
• Ensure data integrity and reliability.
• Follow ITSM/change management for changes.
• Automate tasks with PowerShell, Bash, Python, and SQL scripting.
• Administer cloud databases on AWS/Azure/OCI.
• Plan disaster recovery, failover, and testing.
• Plan capacity and storage forecasting.
• Maintain documentation of architecture and procedures.

Job description

The Database administrator is responsible for the maintenance and support of all Maxicare Databases including troubleshooting of any issues that may arise. The post holder will work in an environment of continuous change while minimizing disruption to system users ensuring that all data is retrievable in an emergency.

• Database Administration -Installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of databases

• Database Technologies - Strong knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other enterprise databases

• SQL - Advanced SQL querying, stored procedures, functions, views, and optimization

• Performance Tuning - Query optimization, indexing, execution plans, database performance monitoring and tuning

• Backup & Recovery - Database backup, restore, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery

• High Availability - Replication, clustering, Always On, Data Guard, RAC, or equivalent HA technologies

• Database Security - User/access management, roles and privileges, encryption, auditing, and security hardening

• Troubleshooting - Diagnosis and resolution of database errors, performance issues, connectivity problems, and incidents

• Database Monitoring - Monitoring database health, capacity, availability, performance, and resource utilization

• Data Integrity Ensuring database consistency, integrity, availability, and reliability

• Change Management - Proper implementation and documentation of database changes following ITSM/change management processes

• Automation & Scripting - PowerShell, Bash, Python, SQL scripting, and automation of routine DBA tasks

• Cloud Database - Administration of AWS/Azure/OCI database services and cloud-based database environments

• Disaster Recovery - Database DR planning, replication, failover/failback, and recovery testing

• Capacity Planning - Database sizing, storage forecasting, growth monitoring, and resource planning

• Documentation- Maintaining database architecture, procedures, configurations, recovery plans, and operational documentation
