Job summary

Symbos, a data-driven outsourcing leader across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, is seeking a Data Scientist who turns data into actionable insights. You will design, develop and deploy analytics, ML and AI solutions that drive real business impact.

You will build predictive models with Python and SQL, work with large datasets in cloud and enterprise environments, and collaborate with business stakeholders to translate challenges into data-driven capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in data science, CS, statistics, math or engineering.
• Proven experience as Data Scientist or related role.
• Strong Python and SQL development skills.
• Experience building and deploying predictive models.
• Solid knowledge of statistics, feature engineering and model evaluation.
• Experience with large and complex datasets.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Data Scientist to design, develop and deploy advanced analytics, machine learning and AI-driven solutions across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop and deploy advanced analytics, machine learning and AI solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
• Build predictive models, statistical frameworks and machine learning algorithms using Python and SQL.
• Develop Agentic AI and advanced analytical solutions across large and complex datasets.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
• Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model validation and performance optimisation.
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, ETL processes and transformation workflows.
• Work with structured and unstructured data across cloud and enterprise environments.
• Present insights and recommendations through dashboards, visualisations and stakeholder presentations.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Technology teams to support data quality, governance and model deployment.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices across Data Science, AI, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer or Advanced Analytics role.
• Strong Python and SQL development skills.
• Experience building and deploying predictive models and machine learning solutions.
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, feature engineering and model evaluation techniques.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Agentic AI, Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Exposure to Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with MLOps and production model deployment.
• Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau or other data visualisation tools.
• Experience working within agile and cross-functional environments.
