Job summary

BDO Unibank in the Philippines is seeking a Data Privacy Officer to join Risk Management. The role oversees the organization’s data privacy framework, ensures compliance with applicable data privacy laws, and promotes a culture of data protection across the business.

The position leads PIAs, manages data breach responses, and coordinates with stakeholders to safeguard personal data while supporting governance and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a business-related or relevant field.
• 3+ years in Data Privacy, Compliance, Risk Management, Audit or similar.
• Knowledge of Data Privacy Act and related regulations.
• Experience in financial services or insurance is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and internal data protection policies.
• Lead implementation and improvement of the privacy management program.
• Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and provide guidance on privacy matters.
• Manage data breach incidents, investigations, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure proper handling and protection of personal data.
• Develop and facilitate privacy awareness and training for employees.
• Monitor regulatory developments and recommend policy/process enhancements.
• Support risk management and governance/compliance activities.

• At least 3 years of experience in Data Privacy, Compliance, Risk Management, Audit, or related functions.
• Knowledge of the Data Privacy Act and related regulatory requirements.
• Experience in the financial services or insurance industry is an advantage.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
