Job summary

Pickup Coffee is seeking a Data Engineer in Manila to design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms powering analytics and reporting. You will own the data platform, including BigQuery, ClickHouse, Airflow, Kafka, and CDC architecture, supporting real-time data integration and data-driven decision-making.

You will collaborate with Analytics, Engineering, Product, and Business teams to deliver trusted data solutions, optimize performance, and ensure cost efficiency across the data stack.

Qualifications

• Data Engineering experience.
• Advanced SQL and data modeling skills.
• Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery.
• Hands-on experience with ClickHouse.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.
• Experience building large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Understanding of distributed systems, CDC, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerized environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
• Experience with Strimzi Operator.
• Experience with Altinity Sink Connector.
• Python, dbt, Terraform, and GCP experience.
• Experience supporting Metabase, or other BI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end data architecture from source systems to analytics platforms.
• Build and manage ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Airflow.
• Develop and optimize data warehouses in BigQuery and ClickHouse.
• Implement CDC solutions using Debezium, Kafka, and Altinity Sink Connector.
• Manage Kafka infra via Strimzi Operator on Kubernetes/EKS.
• Design scalable data models with fact and dimension tables.
• Optimize ClickHouse performance via partitioning, indexing, and storage design.
• Implement data quality, monitoring, and observability frameworks.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Analytics, Engineering, Product, and Business teams.
