Freelancer.com in Taguig, Philippines is seeking an earned media and social media specialist to join the Communications team. You’ll craft pitches, press materials, and data-driven stories for Freelancer, Escrow.com, and Loadshift, collaborating with the Director of Communications in Sydney.

Experience in journalism or PR is preferred. You’ll spot angles in dashboards, conduct interviews, and turn client and platform stories into case studies and social campaigns across three brands.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in journalism, PR, media relations, or communications.
• Strong news instincts: read data or charts to spot stories.
• Excellent written English for various formats.
• Experience pitching and placing stories with editors.
• Organised and self-directed with multiple briefs and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Draft press releases, pitch emails and media materials for campaigns.
• Maintain journalist contact lists across beats (tech, business, finance, logistics, labour).
• Send and track pitch outreach; log coverage and earned media value.
• Respond to journalist callouts and HARO requests relevant to our platforms.
• Research media angles daily using internal data and platform data.
• Stay current with tech, business and labour news; capitalise on moments for our data/story.
• Identify strong story candidates from internal data and client stories for case studies.
• Conduct interviews with clients, freelancers and platform users for case studies.
• Maintain Master Case Study Database and flag Tier A leads.
• Draft social media copy across Freelancer, Escrow.com and Loadshift.
• Monitor social trends and propose content with high organic reach.
• Collaborate with Motion Designer and Viral Media Specialist on campaigns.
• Adapt tone across three brands: Freelancer, Escrow.com, Loadshift.
• Scan analytics weekly and compile media monitoring reports.
• Support Social CX with customer feedback on social platforms.
• Nice to have: experience with media databases and analytics tools.
