Your Role

As a Data and Automation Analyst, you will:

This role combines hands-on data work with a focus on automating and improving how we deliver implementation services. The person will develop high-quality data solutions for customers, supporting Services projects as well as data work for the Customer Experience business unit and the wider business. Day to day, this means applying strong technical and problem-solving skills to build solutions that are robust, reusable, and genuinely useful to the people relying on them.

A core part of the role is identifying where implementation activities such as data uploads, configuration, builds, and validation can be automated, whether through existing platform capabilities, AI-based tools, or purpose-built solutions. The data consulting work runs alongside this and feeds into it, giving the person a real understanding of our products and customer environments so they can spot automation opportunities over time.

It's a mid-level technical role that works closely with peers, Implementation Consultants, and other Technical Consultants. Beyond delivery, the person will contribute to our broader data approach and, as they build knowledge, help lift the wider team through guidance, shared learning, and better documentation and processes.

Services & Delivery

• Translate customer requirements into detailed Scopes of Work, including time estimates, costing, and implementation steps.
• Contribute to technical enhancements and defect remediation across internal and customer-facing data and analytics products, identifying opportunities for innovation.
• Develop and optimize data pipelines (where required) for performance and reliability, and work with Internal team and peers to implement and refine data models.
• Develop reusable code and libraries and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with TechOps and Implementations teams to develop and improve customer onboarding processes.
• Identify and communicate potential problems, risks, and issues early, ensuring prompt follow-up to achieve a favourable outcome.
• Adhere to planning, development, and testing processes in line with the Customer/Professional Services project cadence.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Identify and act on opportunities to automate implementation activities such as data uploads, configuration, builds, and validation, through existing platform capabilities, AI-based tools, or purpose-built solutions.
• Contribute to DevOps/DataOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation where needed.
• Work with the Manager, Technical Services and Data Consulting, and Implementation Consultants to improve processes, enhance automated capabilities, and refine testing practices.
• Contribute to and follow data and analytics processes, standards, and agile testing practices.

Support

• Respond to allocated and escalated issues, providing ad-hoc assistance to team members as needed.
• Support ongoing product releases and legacy customer integrations in production, ensuring smooth operation and issue resolution.
• Perform root cause analysis on major incidents and provide reports to Support for dissemination to customers as required.
• Build and maintain a knowledge library so the team has ready access to documented fixes and processes.

Documentation & Quality

• Maintain thorough technical documentation and contribute to best practices.
• Provide technical review and quality assurance on deliverables produced by other Data Consultants.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Coach and mentor junior team members, offering technical guidance, solution advice, and training as required.
• Support data governance practices, including data security, protection, and access management within the Quartex data platform, in line with defined security and data protection standards.

What You Need

Non-negotiables

• 3+ years in a commercial environment as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, or related data professional.
• Expert SQL, including complex scripts using DDL, DML, and TCL, advanced queries, indexing, and transaction handling (commit and rollback) for data updates in relational databases.
• Strong data modelling and relational database expertise (MS SQL Server highly desirable), across both OLTP and OLAP uses, with confident use of database objects such as stored procedures, triggers, tables and temp tables, and views.
• Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, R, JavaScript, TypeScript, or a .NET language (e.g. C#); shell scripting (PowerShell and Bash).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across the team, internal stakeholders, and customers as required. Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.

Preferred Skills/expertise

• Experience with DevOps/DataOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience developing reusable code libraries and optimizing data solutions for performance and reliability.
• Professional certifications in AWS, Azure, GCP, or other relevant data technologies.
• Experience mentoring team members and contributing to technical documentation and quality assurance.
