Job Description
Role Summary
TheCurriculum Head – Sciencewill provideacademic and instructional leadership for the Science curriculum across grades. The role will lead curriculum design, implementation, assessment, teacherdevelopment, and academic quality improvement, ensuring alignment with theschool’s academic vision, learning outcomes, and standards of teaching andlearning.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Science educatorwith strong subject expertise and proven experience incurriculumdevelopment, pedagogy, teacher training, assessment design, instructionalcoaching, and academic evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum& Content Development:Lead the design, review, mapping,sequencing, and progression of the Science curriculum across grades,ensuring conceptual depth, breadth, academic rigour, and clear learningoutcomes.
- ContentCreation & Curation:Develop, review, and standardisehigh-quality Science content including lesson plans, teacher guides,student learning modules, worksheets, concept resources, presentations,projects, case studies, practical activities, enrichment and intervention materials.
- ContentQuality:Ensure all Science content is scientifically accurate,age-appropriate, curriculum-aligned, engaging, well-structured, andprogressively scaffolded, with emphasis on conceptual understanding,application, scientific reasoning, and higher-order thinking.
- AssessmentContent:Lead the development and quality assurance of questionbanks, question papers, competency- and application-based questions, casestudies, practical assessments, projects, rubrics, and formativeassessment resources aligned to learning outcomes.
- Practical& Experiential Learning:Strengthen laboratory work,experimentation, inquiry, investigations, projects, real-worldapplications, and STEM connections within the curriculum and learningresources.
- TeacherDevelopment:Design and deliver professional development tostrengthen Science subject knowledge, pedagogy, lesson design, contentdelivery, questioning, differentiation, practical teaching, and assessmentpractices.
- InstructionalCoaching:Conduct classroom observations and review lesson plans,student work, and assessments; provide actionable feedback and coaching toimprove the quality and consistency of Science teaching.
- AcademicEvaluation:Analyse student performance and classroom evidence toidentify learning gaps and misconceptions and use insights to improvecurriculum, content, teaching strategies, and interventions.
- Resource& Repository Management:Build and maintain a structuredrepository of Science teaching, learning, assessment, practical,enrichment, and intervention resources.
- ContinuousImprovement:Stay abreast of developments in Science education,pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and educational technology, andcontinuously enhance content and academic practices.
- AcademicCollaboration:Work with the Principal, academic leadership,coordinators, and Science educators to establish academic priorities,maintain standards, resolve implementation challenges, and build a cultureof Science excellence.
Requirements
Qualification & Experience
- Master’sdegree in Science.
- Additionalqualification inEducation, Curriculum & Instruction, orEducational Leadershipis desirable.
- 8–12+years of experiencein Science education, with demonstratedprogression into curriculum, academic, or instructional leadership.
- Provenexpertise inScience curriculum development, teacher training,assessment design, instructional coaching, and academic evaluation.
- Strongexperience in developingteaching-learning resources, assessmentframeworks, question papers, and subject-specific content.
- Strongunderstanding ofinquiry-based, experiential, competency-based, andapplication-oriented Science pedagogy.
