Job Description
The Credit Investigator is responsible for conducting thorough and accurate credit investigations of loan applicants to assess their creditworthiness, financial capacity, employment or business status, residence, and overall ability to repay their loan obligations. The position requires extensive fieldwork, verification of applicant information, collection of supporting documents, and preparation of comprehensive Credit Investigation Reports (CIR) to assist the Credit Department and Management in making sound lending decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations of loan applicants, co-makers, guarantors, and other relevant parties
- Verify the applicant's personal information, residential address, employment, business, income, and other sources of funds
- Conduct neighborhood, residence, employment, and business verification when necessary
- Interview applicants, references, employers, co-workers, business partners, landlords, neighbors, and other relevant sources
- Validate the authenticity and consistency of information provided in the loan application and supporting documents
- Identify discrepancies, unusual circumstances, red flags, or potential risks that may affect the applicant's creditworthiness
- Verify employment details, including company name, position, length of service, compensation, and employment status
- Verify business ownership, business operations, estimated income, and business stability for self-employed applicants
- Prepare complete, accurate, and objective Credit Investigation Reports and clearly document investigation findings, verification results, discrepancies, and relevant observations
- Perform assigned field investigations within the prescribed schedule and geographic area
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, or a related field is preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in credit investigation, field investigation, financing, lending, collection, or a related position is an advantage
- Fresh graduates with relevant fieldwork or customer-facing experience may be considered
- Knowledge of basic credit assessment and financial concepts is preferred
- Willing to conduct extensive fieldwork and travel within the assigned area
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to conduct interviews and gather information effectively
- Honest, trustworthy, and objective in reporting investigation results
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motorcycle is an advantage
