Job summary

Connex Education are recruiting a dedicated Cover Supervisor for a Boston secondary academy in the UK. You will deliver pre-planned lessons across various subjects, supporting pupils aged 11-16 and maintaining a calm classroom environment.

The role offers both full-time and part-time hours with a focus on continued student progress. The ideal candidate will have effective communication, good literacy and numeracy, and a willingness to engage in professional development, alongside a valid DBS

• Full enhanced DBS certificate.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across subjects in the absence of the class teacher.
• Support pupils to stay engaged with their work and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff and assist with behaviour management.
• Communicate progress and feedback to teaching staff and contribute to wider academy life.

About The Role

Connex Education are recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive secondary academy in Boston. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about creating a positive learning environment where students feel supported, encouraged and motivated to achieve their potential. As a Cover Supervisor, you will provide continuity of learning by delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher. You will support students to remain engaged with their work, encourage positive attitudes towards learning and maintain a calm and purposeful classroom environment. The successful candidate will be confident working with students aged 11-16, able to build respectful relationships and manage behaviour consistently in line with the academy’s expectations. You will work closely with teaching staff to support student progress, provide feedback following lessons and contribute positively to the wider life of the academy. You will be organised, adaptable and approachable, with the ability to inspire confidence in students and provide support where needed. This role would suit graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced Cover Supervisors, Teaching Assistants, Learning Mentors or individuals with experience working with young people within an educational setting.

Person Specification

To be considered for this role, candidates must have / be able to demonstrate:

• Degree OR GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above in both, or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2).
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with pupils and staff.
• The ability to build positive and respectful relationships with pupils.
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting pupil progress and school life.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills to support learning and classroom administration.
• The ability to maintain a calm, purposeful and positive learning environment.
• An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries within a school setting.
• Adaptability and resilience when working across different subjects and year groups.
• High standards of professional behaviour, presentation and integrity.
• A willingness to engage in professional development and respond positively to feedback.
• Completion of the Connex Education / Academize Effective Cover Supervision training course (access will be provided to all suitable applicants).
• A full enhanced DBS certificate.
• Completion of the Connex Education onboarding process.
