Job summary

Zamboanga Nickel Corporation in the Philippines is seeking a Cost Control Engineer to monitor, analyze, and control costs for mining operations and projects. The role collaborates with operations, procurement, and finance to produce accurate cost reports supporting decision-making and planning.

The candidate will prepare cost monitoring reports, track variances, review cost inputs, and assist in budget development, ensuring timely and accurate cost documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Civil, Industrial Eng, or Accountancy.
• 3–5 years’ experience in cost monitoring, project control, or related mining/construction work.
• Proficient in cost control systems and MS Excel / ERP tools.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and reporting accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and updates cost monitoring reports for projects and operations.
• Tracks actual costs against budgets and forecasts variances.
• Reviews purchase requests, job orders, and material usage reports for cost implications.
• Coordinates with Operations, Procurement, and Accounting for cost validation and accruals.
• Generates cost performance and productivity analysis for management review.
• Assists in budget preparation and project cost estimation.
• Monitors financial progress of specific work packages or contracts.
• Ensures all cost documentation is accurate, complete, and properly filed.

The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling the operational and project costs of the mining operation. This role ensures that expenditures are aligned with approved budgets and that cost variances are identified and addressed. Working closely with operations, procurement, and finance teams, the Cost Control Engineer provides accurate and timely cost reports that support decision-making and project planning.
