Job summary

Private Advertiser in Metro Manila is looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join the Finance team. This full-time role focuses on analyzing production costs, cost allocation, and providing insights for decision-making.

You will work with operations, production and finance to prepare cost schedules, perform variance analysis, budgets and forecasts, while ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate inventory valuation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 2–4 years of professional experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting or a similar role.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of GAAP and inventory management practices.

• Analyze and record production costs, including materials, labour and overhead allocations.
• Prepare and maintain cost accounting records and reports for management.
• Conduct variance analysis and investigate root causes; recommend corrective actions.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join the Finance team. This is a full-time position offering a unique opportunity to play a vital role in optimizing our cost management and financial planning processes. As Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for analyzing, tracking and reporting on production costs, ensuring accurate cost allocation across our operations, and providing valuable insights to support informed decision-making at all levels of the organization. This role is essential to maintaining our competitive edge in the food manufacturing and distribution sector.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and recording of production costs, including direct materials, labour and overhead allocations
• Preparing and maintaining detailed cost accounting records and reports for management review
• Conducting variance analysis to identify discrepancies between standard and actual costs, investigating root causes and recommending corrective actions
• Supporting the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring cost projections are accurate and realistic
• Monitoring inventory valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average) and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
• Assisting with cost reduction initiatives and process improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency
• Reconciling cost accounting records with general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity
• Collaborating with operations, production and finance teams to gather cost data and clarify cost allocations
• Preparing cost accounting schedules, worksheets and reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors
• Supporting the implementation and maintenance of cost accounting systems and controls

What we're looking for

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 2-4 years of professional experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting or a similar role
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, methods and practices, including job costing, process costing and standard costing
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is advantageous
• Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and inventory management practices
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting
• Effective communication skills with the ability to explain cost accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders
• Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a team environment
• Familiarity with the food manufacturing or production industry is preferred
