Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a hands-on Contract Accountant to support monthly close and day-to-day accounting for Compute & Infrastructure costs, including cloud, data center, equipment, and related services. You will translate contracts, pricing, invoices, and usage data into accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations, partnering with cross-functional teams.

This role emphasizes accuracy, timely delivery, and strong controls; you will not finalize journals or approve payments, but ensure audit-ready

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Ability to read and translate lease/contract terms into accounting actions.
• Strong documentation and evidence retention practices.
• Experience with ERP or finance systems.

Responsibilities

• Own lease-accounting month-end and quarter-end activities.
• Prepare journal entries and schedules for lease and fixed assets.
• Perform reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Coordinate with Legal, Procurement, and FP&A.
• Support audit requests with documentation.
