Job Description
The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring health and safety programs at the construction site. The position ensures compliance with DOLE occupational safety and health requirements, company policies, and project safety standards, while promoting a safe working environment for all employees and workers.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the project’s Health and Safety Program and site safety procedures.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.
- Ensure compliance with DOLE OSH requirements, company policies, and project safety standards.
- Conduct safety orientations, toolbox meetings, and safety briefings.
- Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Prepare safety reports, inspection checklists, and incident/accident reports.
- Investigate and document accidents, near misses, and safety violations.
- Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with project personnel, subcontractors, and workers regarding safety concerns.
- Ensure proper implementation of emergency preparedness and response procedures.
- Perform other safety-related duties as assigned by Management or the Project Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Must have a valid DOLE-accredited Safety Officer certification, preferably SO2 or SO3.
- With 2-3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in a construction environment.
- Knowledge of DOLE OSH Standards, construction safety practices, and risk assessment.
- Experienced in conducting site inspections, toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and incident investigations.
- Good communication, coordination, and report-writing skills.
- Strong knowledge of PPE, hazard identification, and emergency procedures.
- Willing to work on-site and be assigned to the Navotas Project.
